I joined the forum back when there was a Powerhouse Gym on Jefferson; I was considering signing up, but saw that several of the forumers had been locked out. This told me that this was a forum that I needed to be a part of, in order to get the news, fast and accurate.

I chose the name LEOQUEEN because that is my zodiac sign, and I am a Queen. Like Elizabeth II or Victoria or Latifah. Royalty. But I thought it was cute that some of the forummers at the time I joined thought that I was a gay man. I am an African-American woman, and an artist.

    And Detroiter.
    And Cass Tech alum.

I'm a HUGE Howard Stern fan and most of my online personas reference an aspect of the show in some way so...Robin Ophelia Quivers.

I'm enjoying this thread, good stuff. My name comes from my dear Dad. As a child he would bounce me on his knee and sing a little diddy he made just for me..."Teenie wiennie qweek qweek qweek". To this day my family still calls me Qweek, thank the lord they didn't stick with "Teenie Wiennie", that screen name would have raised a few brows!

I know my typing,,writing is a diffrent than others,,but I never want anyone to pick the way I am,,I'm just me...I apologize for for that....I picked Stipes for my cause of the song *let her cry* from Hottie and the Blowfish.I always loved REM back in my youth...Back in the 1991 I would have a really shi**y day and put this song on.. I always loved the lyrics to this....Hope you always enjoy life as I do Pam................

    This flower is scorched
    This film is on
    On a maddening loop.
    These clothes,
These clothes don't fit us right

    It's all the same

You come to me with a bone in your hand
You come to me with your hair curled tight
You come to me with positions
You come to me with excuses
    Ducked out in a row
    You wear me out
    You wear me out

    We've been through fake-a-breakdown
    Self hurt
    Plastics, collections
    EST, psychics, fuck all
    I was central
    I had control
    I lost my head
    I need this
    I need this
    A paper weight, junk garage
    Winter rain, a honey pot
Crazy, all the lovers have been tagged.
    A hotline, a wanted ad
It's crazy what you could've had

Stipes, I'm not too sure what you don't get from Pam's link, but I sure don't get whatever it is you're trying to communicate.

Me and a couple buddies were sitting around in the early 80's getting stoned and watching MTV. Somehow, the topic turned to middle names, and I mentioned I didn't have one. At that moment, the VJ informed us that James Honeyman-Scott, the lead guitarist from the Pretenders had died of a drug overdose. In our drug-induced stupor, it was 100% clear that this was a sign from God and I have been Joel Honeyman S________ ever since.

OK, let me break it down for you jcole -- my good friend Stipes chose his screenname in reference to Michael Stipe. And Pam being as friendly as she is took the opportunity to let Stipes know that it is Michael Stipe, not Stipes with an s on the end of it.

And Stipes replied that his screenname is in reference to Michael Stipe but it is more for the love of the lyrics of a Hootie and the Blowfish song, Let Her Cry, which has the following lyric: "She says dad's the one I love the most but Stipe's not far behind" ... hence the name Stipes.

C'mon jcole, you can do it!!

Uh..yeah. Saw Martha Davis last year as a matter of fact...she's gained a few pounds since the 80's though.

But I don't know what that has to do with the Pretenders.

Well, that's a good one, and a true case of there having been absolutely no chance of anyone figuring out its derivation.

...or be a negotiator, mediator, medium, broker, or intermediary. I was also impressed at Downtown Lady's succinctness. Two or three more such posts and she qualifies to interpret the handwriting on the wall.
