It's a top story the way Mel Gibson's stupidity is a top story.

    Stupid people doing stupid shit.

Never said it deserved headline status. The media today, being what it is, made it so.

He has never had to follow rules before, so why start now.

I have to say this was fuuuuuunnnnnnnnnny. Not that he did it, that he got caught [[again). What a gazidiot. Just shows that he thinks he can do whatever he wants.
And as far as this a headline story, until the public see justice served for all the wrong Kwame has done [[and probably for some time after) everything he does is going to be a headline story, especially if he gets in trouble. [[Kind of like OJ, everything he does makes it to the papers)

He is a disgraced, imprisoned, public official. Everything he does will be "news".

He's in prison because he thought the rules don't apply to him.

He still gets headlines because obviously, he still thinks the rules don't apply to him.

After he has served about 5 years.

Any less than that and he remains the butt end of my jokes.

Imagine that day. No doubt it will happen. But when? Why?

Amazingly, at that moment, the "got tired" event will go unnoticed -- until dragged up in some arcane historical reference.

    "Why is this headline news?"

The same reason John Lennon's assassination made headlines, but Joe Blow, who was gunned down on Detroit's west side last night, garnered nary a mention.

It has nothing to do with "the media today." That's how it has always been.

When Charles Lindbergh's baby was kidnapped, it made national news. I'm sure there were other kidnapped babies during that time period which weren't mentioned by the media.

When Babe Ruth collapsed of a "stomach ache" [[rumored to be the clap) in 1925, it made headlines. Others who were rushed to the hospital were not mentioned by the newspapers.

You know damn well why Kwame is in the headlines. If you don't, you haven't been paying attention. When famous people do stuff, it gets covered. That has nothing to do with "the media today."

This will remain headline news until he has made restitution in one way or the other to the citizens of the City of Detroit. If his behavior does not upset you, then you may have benefitted from him being mayor. I hope it remains in the news until he has been made to show some humbleness.

I saw his P.R. man Mike Paul said that he should have just been given a warning.

Mr. Paul, if that man had listened to warnings, he wouldn't even be behind bars right now.

20 bucks says Kwame is going to end up doing porn to pay back debts and make a living in the future. What would Kwame's porn name be?

Lowell, can this new Kwame mega-thread be structured the way it was previously [[around the time when the text scandal broke), with sub-categories in the mega-thread? There are so many topics under the heading of Kwame that it will get conviluted quickly if everything is in one conversation.

It would be similar to having sub-categories under the Sports section, rather than one humongous conversation about all sports. Thanks.

When he's sentenced to life in prison.

Five years is no where near long enough. And Mommy Kwame' and King Daddy need to go with him.

Regrding the t---y twister incident during his wife's visit, this type of coverage of him is very therapeutic to those of us who want to see justice served. I don't mind it a bit. And his propaganda minister/reputation manager, is like having a comedian throwing one liners at every turn of the continuous saga. He should work for the Onion, same type of absurdity.

    Life in prison for what?

I agree about the therapy. It was painful to watch this assclown of a mayor serve the city. All the double dealing was criminal. My own gut says he will strike a deal. He will do at least 5 more years , maybe up to 10. Bernard needs some jail time too. I will be having some champagne when momma butt cheeks gets thrown out of office.

Said relatives were pretty pissed, but they risk losing their jobs if they are found to leak information regarding jail policy and procedures and activities. Nobody up there considers him anything other than a joke, and are pretty riled up that he gets extraordinary treatment.

Solo jail cell. FULL use of a cellular phone, which implies AC for the charger, too.

I would bet this animosity from the jail employees towards him is the basis of this titillating citation.

You are quite abreast with details from people at the very bosom of this story. Thanks for sharing.
