Here are a couple of pics from Central City, Co. It's the gambling mecca of the mid-Rockies. It's an old mining town where they've re-used the saloons and stores for casinos. Kind of cool. Also very nice when there's a heat wave down in the flatlands.

those pictures are cool - looks like a great place. tomorrow i move our new Ensign to Charleston, SC. he has the U-Haul about packed up, and the caravan leaves early tomorrow - @9 hr drive. Our first one to actually have his own address, but that's life. onward and upward. one step closer to being empty nesters!!!!!
That looks like cool place JC. What do think is the age of the oldest building there?

This bottom pic looks like the Beatles should be walking across the street
First Ed McMahon, then Farrah, now I just hear Michael Jackson had a heart attack. That's 3 now it should be safe to come out

I've heard Charleston is really nice from a historic perspective. Might be a little clammy there, but it can't be any worse than it's been around here for the last week.
The oldest buildings are from 1874. The town was founded in 1859, but it burnt and was rebuilt in 74, and most of the buildings still stand. Most of them are also casinos of one size or another. Some only have maybe 50 slot machines, but they're kind of cute. There are a couple large ones up there, but most of the bigger ones are down the mountain a little way in Blackhawk. You can take a shuttle between the two towns
Safe trip, laing, and congrats to the Ensign. Enjoy him while you can. It sure changes once they move out.
My daughter gave her dad his father's day gift today, an afternoon at the COPA. Tigs beat the Cubs in a tight game. Galarago with the W, a lighter head Mags with a timely dinger, and Rodney with a 3K 9th inning.....all in front of a sell out crowd. Hightlight: a day with my daughter. Lowlight: passing the corner on the way over and seeing the continued destruction. Like the Tigers, the highlight won.

I like your optimism. You glossed right over heart attack Rodney giving up a homer and a double, placing the win unnecessarily more in doubt.
I for one certainly appreciate my Tiger Stadium memories, and would have liked to have seen a viable privately funded plan for it's future use, but I also really like Comerica Park.
Sure, at first, I was looking at what it didn't have ... how it was different from TS. Now it just seems so right to me ... comfortable, airy, totally functional, yes, even modern ... I love being there, and I treasure my memories of being there with my family and friends.
Jcole - Great pictures!!! Thank you!
7K - you're cracking me up this morning!

That sounds like a perfect day KR. Except for seeing the destruction that was cause for so many other great memories in our lives. It's great that you can create your own now with your daughter.
I agree with 7, at first I resented COPA, but the more I went there I grew fonder of it. When we win the World Series this year, it will become home to a new set of great memories for us. Maybe we can even get CFG to attend a game there then.
Oh I think we can coax her into going to a ballgame. We just have to schmooz her a little. Maybe we can talk to management and they will let her bring one of her TS seats in with her to use so she feels more at home.
Did anyone else ever subscribe to this series in grade school. It may have been either '68 or '69 when I did, but don't recall for certain. I had posted these on the St. Jude FB page and no one else responded that they had. I know it was through St. Jude that I signed up for it.

I remember taking home a bunch of order forms from time to time, but not those.Did anyone else ever subscribe to this series in grade school. You guys - I DID go once, when they honored Ernie Harwell - because you can't say you don't like what you've not experienced......so that was my last time.....except for an exhibition game where I actually won the shirt off Darrel Evan's back -- out on the field - autographed the whole shebang!
If we went down there as a group, I'd go - but for the companionship - not the venue! See what I'd do for you guys!
