Congrats to Spain. An ugly match, but I'm glad it did not go to penalty kicks. I had no real favorites as my team Germany took 3rd place, but I was pulling for the orange for Whitehouse. Can't wait for Brazil.

Sorry Whitehouse. I wanted Orange to win too. They played a great game against a very good Spanish team, only lost in overtime and had opportunities to win. Congratulations on getting so far and for their big win over Brazil. Oranje gekte and the vuvazelas are now silent.

One of my best days in Amsterdam was being there the day their Ajax football team won the European cup. Just looked it up -- June 2, 1971. The town exploded and team flag-waving happy fans were marching through the streets chanting in letters A-A-AJAX. I was hoping for a repeat of the celebration.
