$3 for a Pepsi?

Anyone else think $3 for a bottle of Pepsi is excessive? That's what the convenience store at Cobo was charging today.

Either they should be making minimum wage as well or the business needs to be shut down by the state.

UInless of course they're running one of those dirty businesses where they hire young folks as interns or volunteers to "get around" the labor/wage laws.

It's as simple as convenience. In certain situations [[stadiums, theatres, amusement parks, hotels, convention centers, etc.) retailers can charge a premium on products that would otherwise be relatively cheap. If you really want to drink that Pepsi then you'll pay $3 for it, if you don't really want to drink that Pepsi you won't. Cobo knows that there are people who are willing to pay $3 for the convenience of having that Pepsi at that very moment. It has nothing to to do with cost or volume.

And the sugar and caffeine in a lot of sodas just make your mouth furry so you have to drink some more.Sugary sodas also contribute to obesity. For all these reasons, I'm for taxing sugary sodas as well as bottled water which is a huge boondoggle and creates all those bottles that are not recycled and are left by trashy people in the streets, on the sidewalks, on people's lawns, etc. They are not a necessity of life. Sugar addiction can be beat.

My comment wans't intended to be offensive, but it annoys me when people tell me what I should and shouldn't be eating. It's the same as infringing on my personal liberty.
