^^^ Or that evil eye!
There still is an annual Greektown Independence Day Parade, usually the last Sunday in March. Not as lively as the original Greektown Festivals, but still a lot of fun!

It's not quite Greektown, but one year, likely in the early eighties, at one of the Greek Festivals held at Hart Plaza, I went to an OPA! contest hosted
by Detroit News columnist Charlie Manos.
Old timers of Detroit Yes remember Charlie Manos here:

There were several contestants, several judges, and several brown
paper bags [[of bread) distributed for the judges to enjoy along
with their carbonized kasseri cheese aka saganaki. Manos made
a joke about a paper bag having a different variety of bread in it
to the dramatic dismay of one of the contestants. Fun to watch!
We were in the amphitheater at Hart Plaza.

Late 1970's evening: bleacher seat at Tiger Stadium, 1/2 pint of rum, large coke, copious amounts of weed..then off to Sero's for a saganaki and a souvlaki. Dang, great times back then. All for a $10 bill.
Among the bleacher creatures was a regular contingent of Truckers because one guy’s dad worked at the gate and he would allow those in without tickets who were skinny enough to pass the turnstile without turning it. He was a true mensch.
