No. I knew Grzanka, Potenga and Abbruzzi or Abruzzizi from bars and restaurants we frequented, all over the city, including their joints. Abruzzi used metal walkers, didn't he? The type of walkers that wrap around the forearm or biceps? I seem to remember him as a polio victim. My father had a business associate, an accountant, who had the same situation. He used metal walker/crutches. He had a huge, muscular, upper body but his legs weren't entirely useful. Oddly enough, he played a mean piano - at Anderson's Gardens on Cass. If you know more of the story of their falling out and you'd care to reveal it, I'd love to hear about it. I don't seem to remember that chapter.

pgn, thanks for jarring my memory. I've been wondering why I lost contact with those guys. It's not like we were close friends, but rather like good and frequent customers of each others businesses and we tipped a few together. All of us being in the restaurant business, we crossed paths frequently. I was at Wimpy's a few year ago. I'm not even sure if it was open. Me and a buddy were just out cruising dives when we happened upon it. It was vaguely familiar [[not being an eastsider). It finally dawned on me where I was. A lot of water under the bridge.

Oh, YEAH! There were secret passages in the walls. Big speakeasy territory around those parts. Also Charlevoix & Kercheval had quite a few "legit" businesses as "fronts" for the boozy trade. Occasionally, you'll find a door with a little sliding peep window in them. "What's the password?" LOL!

Trump's was on Harper and Courville...where the I-Rock Nightclub is now located.

And wasn't it Lambardi's where the Blue Pointe is now?

I'm not sure. It doesn't ring a bell. But nowadays, my bells don't get rung very much anyway. Unless I fall out of bed.

Liked that whole neighborhood. Red Carpet, B'Stilla, Sabre/Wimpy's, and my favorite dive bar, Barbie's Bedford Lounge.

B'Stilla's. Spent a lot of time there in the early 80's. The "doorman" looked like Fredo from the Godfather.
