From The Ayn Rand Institute website

Atlas Shrugged sales have gone up substantially this year. It is selling at 250% the rate of last year's sales. Another article claims that an additional 350,000 copies of Ayn Rand novels have been sent to schools this year and estimates that 1M copies are to be found in schools. My guess, though, is that books about Barack Obama are checked out more.

Rand book sales up? When the only group out there buying it would be the less than 20% of people who identify as Republican, does it really matter?

Yeah, and another ten thousand leaves fell off the trees today. Irrelevant.

How many will actually be read? My guess is most tea partiers will get thirty pages in and give up. Or better yet, just put it on their coffee table as a conversation piece.

Hopefully many many more will be sold and read. On top of the fiction, real insights can be found in the transcribed lectures and her nonfiction books.

The only non-fiction book Rand could have written would have been a screed on how she smoked herself to death, and denied that smoking caused cancer, and was so reviled as a person she was consigned to die alone, gasping away on an oxygen mask, principles intact, and leaving no gap in anyone's heart.

What Batts would consider a "successful life."

She smoked! <smacks forehead> That's what he sees in her!

Why else would this particular thread remain conspicuously unbumped during the most recent "running of the boards"?

Ayn Rand must feel snubbed, kicked to the curb, if you will -- with the rest of her butts.

    Puft!

How many toys did Rand have when she died? That's the only important question.

I'd guess that's about as nude as she can get. She's not even wearing any skin. She's still smokin'!

You must love the liberal lack of intelligence on display...straight out of the playbook, can't cope with the concepts for lack of intelligence/skill/content, so revert to personal gossip based attacks.

Much more convoluted than just admitting that you have nothing libs.

And only better with that Eva Gabor wig she was sporting those final years- really hot.

Actually, as a skeleton for the last 25 years she's finally achieved the figure all Objectivists crave.

Or the figure the rest of us crave- for them.

And selling more books and media every year...why do you suppose that is?

    Resonance?

    Why now?

Events of today parallel prophesied consequences of collectivism and the blueprint for a solution is in the material written?

Possibly the most insightful thing you've ever said, Cc. It's because Rand's concepts lack intelligence/skill/content that the only thing left to talk about is her personal life.

Karl Marx sells quite a few books each year, what does that mean to your argument?

    LOL!!

Mein Kampf was more relevant on all levels, has sold more, and is a better read, frankly.

Your point, Mr. Scribner? Or is it "Rand-om House?"

Wrong as usual on every front Lorax.

Whh..whhh wait a minute...did Lorax just praise Hitler as relevant? Fascinating insight into your character Lorax. Your apparent affinity for liberal fascism makes more and more sense now.

Notice as well that Rand's books are bought by people without any coercion...Hitler? not so much.

    1) Not really. It's just that a thousand monkeys pounding on typewriters coud put together a more interesting book than the Rand-om ever could.

    2) Is coercion a metaphor for brains in this case?

Yeah, actually Hitler was relevant, and by reading his screed one has insight into his twisted mind. The liberals would call it "opposition research," Rethuglicans would call whomever read it a "fascist".

    Typical mouthy, braindead, reactionary thinking.

Oh, and "liberal fascism" has nothing to do with it. Me thinks it's time to repost Batt's admission that fascism is directly linked to right wing ideology.......

You can learn from just about anything, except Rand of course.

So does a certain book by Karl Marx, so what's your point?

Oh no...Marx and Marxists never use coercion...riggghhht.

Well, let's see...Marx is dead. And the last I looked, the Marxists haven't taken over the Good Ol' US of A. So if Das Kapital is selling well, I'd say that indicates a lot of people interested in what he had to say--without coercion.
