This must be how Ford supported Hitler: I looked up Ford's WWII record. Ford broke ground in 1940 to build aircraft engines at Rouge. The Rouge plant also provided amphibious jeeps, armor plating and superchargers. In addition to building aircraft, other Ford plants built over 277,000 vehicles for the war effort including 32 ton M-4 tanks, anti tank destroyers, armored vehicles, and general purpose Willys vehicles, and 13,000 amphibious reconnaissance vehicles. By September 1942, Ford had begun flying off planes and produced over 87,000 by the end of the war including B-24's built in Ypsilanti and over 57,000 airplane engines. The American Legion gave its Distinguished Service award to Ford for its contributions to the rehabilitation of service veterans.

Dodge Main Plant, Hamtramck Michigan [[dodgemotorcar.com)

Does anyone know the history of the building that presently houses Polonia Restaurant? As a kid, my dad told me that during the Great Depression it was the Dodge Workers Co-op Restaurant. In that capacity it tried to feed the hungry, clothe the naked [not grab 'em by the short hairs]. And outside the restaurant there were street fights between leftists and members of the Amerikadeutscher Bund, who presumably opposed feeding the hungry, etc. After September 1, 1939, Bundists stayed away from Hamtramck.

    Wow. Thanks for posting that.

Associated Press had their own custom AP ligature?! That's a ballsy, well-earned status symbol. That's a significant tidbit of forgotten history. They must have had a custom matrix for it in Linotypes for it to appear in newspapers — and for the sole purpose of signing their work!

It's like shoehorning your own signature into the alphabet.

I suppose they didn’t want to get "hamstrung".

The Canuks built some pretty good tanks also and 44,090 payed the price for freedom from tyranny that often times gets overshadowed, but never forgotten.

Notwithstanding your claims, it's well-established fact that Henry Ford and Hitler were a mutual admiration society. Ford probably was an honorary grand dragon of the Amerika Deutscher Bund. All production at Willow Run was under the auspices of the War Production Board. The FBI surely kept close tabs on Ford throughout the war effort. He may have had his good qualities, such as opposing American involvement in the family squabble that was the First World War.

P.S. A year after he received the Nobel Peace Prize, the notorious war criminal Henry Kissinger also received the American Legion's Distinguished Service Medal.

    Pick your poison

JP Morgan pulled the funds to help Germany rebuild and build into a war economy, while the U.S. was in a depression.

Standard oil provided the chemicals for the aviation fuel for the Luftwaffe and made the battle for Britain possible and the production of the V-2 rockets.

Henry Ford did what Henry Ford did at the time make lots of money helping other country’s implement mass production that was used in the war production.

He even worked with Fiat who then made so much profit they were able to fund Mussolini’s rise to power.

Ford,Hitler and Mussolini all had the same thing in common which is why they got along, they hated Jews and felt the best way to run a society is to have total control over your workforce,in every waking moment of their life.

Most communists and socialists will view Kissinger a war criminal or anything else they can think of,he did play a crucial part of going through a Cold War where nukes were never exchanged,so there is that.

Events in history that took place that brought us to where we are today.

If all of those players going into WW2 had not done what they did and even though one likes to believe that hindsite plays a bigger role the world as we know it today and this country would not be as it is today.

Sometimes nasty things need to happen in order to make a better world.

In a round about way,a world war pulled a world out of a depression that had no end in site and even to this day it reminds us how evil mankind can be.

Clearly nobody has really learned anything and have short memories but it’s all of those moments in time and people that are in a place in tjat moment that seem irrelevant at the time but changed the course of history.

Its no different today,we sanctioned Russia for attacking Ukraine, while telling Ukraine not to attack Russia because it will force the cost of oil up,even though the point of the sanctions was to hit Russian oil profits and nurture their ability to fund the war.

So Ford, whether you agree with it or not,did not do anything different then those before him and those after him have always done.

People playing games way above our pay grade,it could also be argued that had not those players did what they did,Detroit would have never been the arsenal of democracy or benefited from the billions, which helped build an economy in this country that would last for another 40 years.

The assembly line was the most innovative but the most damaging long term, because as it spread across the world it helped build the competition that would destroy there very thing it was ment to do.

So What Ford did or did not do it does not matter, mass production as a way to reduce the workforce was designed by nature to to do exactly what we see today.

The future of Detroit was already put into motion the day the assembly line went online just as the future of the U.S. auto manufacturers was.

Nothing has changed though,Detroit can be the Arsenal of Democracy today just as it was back then, the product is still in need as wars will never end.

it’s billions of dollars going through the system and no different then Ford and all of the others thought back then, they are going to be spent one way or another,so if they are not going into my coffers they will be going into somebody else’s.

Hate on the war machine all you want but with the amount of evil people in the world it does provide for a consistent income.

It’s that irony,do not buy blood diamonds but surround yourself with electronic devices and push EVs that the materials were mined under the exact same circumstances.

You can have another tank factory in Detroit,I love history and how it has shaped the world, but at the end of the day,you cannot eat it,you can learn from it,see what worked, and pick the parts that benefit.
