I baffled that people still think this way in Detroit. Can you take a wild guess at how I know Tesla and Toyota are deploying automated factories? Think of where we are living.

And, no, they aren't 100% automated, but there are *far* fewer workers than most traditional big three factories.

For a bit more perspective, paint shops are completely automated, mainly because nobody wants to stand in a sweltering bunny suit and spray cars all day.

It’s seems like robotic advancement is linked to AI,the better they get with AÍ the more tasks the robots can do,pretty soon they will probably be cheaper then a wife when it comes to household chores.

As far fetched as the Jetsons seemed to be,a lot of that is becoming a reality.

My guess is when it gets to that point the unions will try and organize the robots and force you to pay them, while the unions collect the pay as trustees and hold on to it for the benefit of the robots.

Is there anyone who has spent five minutes looking into it who doesn't think auto factories have become steadily more automated?

You didn't claim that. You claimed that Toyota and Tesla are building 100% automated factories. As far as I can tell, they aren't. Doesn't mean they might not someday--the state of the art advances.

Agreed. And when there are zero jobs, we can eat the rich, live off the fat of the land, and every day will be Jobbie Nooner Day!

P.S. I'm saving my appetite for Elon Musk, but they say that South African turkey contains no dark meat.

I await fully automated luxury communism. However, unlike Simeon, no one has promised me that I'll live until it shows up.

Presidential election pivotal in how labor board will referee unions

"Like many federal agencies, the NLRB is known for shifting the political orientation of its work between Democratic and Republican administrations. But former officials, labor scholars and union organizers say the recent shifts are beyond what they’ve seen in decades. Whoever wins November’s rematch can — and likely will — wield the agency’s power to either tamp down or charge up unionization efforts around the country."

So what happens in Alabama when the same thing that happened in Detroit happens there?

It’s not a shadow group, once again part of the state provided incentive package for the factories to locate there was the agreement that the state would fight the unions.

The facilities did not want to locate in Detroit for a reason, they located in the south so now the next move will be across the borders, when that time comes what exactly did the union accomplish?

They are like locusts, they take an area and consume everything and move on while leaving the destruction behind.

What does the salary of a banking CEO have to do with unions and auto factories in the south?

That’s that socialist propaganda being thrown in there.

Wash rinse and repeat, the salary increases,so does everything else to compensate,so the employees with be making more money but the cost of living will increase offsetting any gains,so then its back to the table for more money and then the factory leaves, then nobody has a job and everybody leaves as the poverty rate increases, you would think that people that live in a city and has experienced what happens first hand would at some point in time say - gee that did not work out well, let’s try something else.

And not take the same exact situation and repeat it in a different location thinking a miracle is going to happen and it will work there.

If the union was protecting jobs and workers they would not have lost over half of their membership in the last 40 years and the factories would have had zero reason to locate in the south in the first place.

The only jobs that are protected are the union bosses, they will be the last man standing.

How come they do not take the same salary as those they represent, like they expect everybody else to do?

Regions has a value of $18.5 billion, the CEOs value is based on the value of the company, their pay is not factored like a line workers pay amd at the end of the day each position has a labor value when that labor value is exceeded it becomes no longer feasible to employ them.

Fords increased labor cost is $8.1 billion after the last negotiation, who do you think is going to pay that ?

So you are not increasing the cost of doing business for Ford by $8.1 billion, you are increasing the cost of the finial product to the end purchaser.

Which is You,so what exactly is accomplished? What gains are there when now that you make more money, everything you buy cost more so it’s playing a zero sum game.

While in the process forcing companies to offshore So then you end up with no job.

Everybody that I know in Alabama that worked for the auto manufacturers and related suppliers were living comfortable, they owned homes, drove new cars and wife was able to stay home and raise the kids, what exactly do they need a union for ?

The union has become no different then the guy that goes to different businesses and tells them, pay me X amount of dollars every week or I will put you out of business, but they are saying that to the very people that are supposed to protect, because at the end of the day that’s all they are doing, the mob business of collecting protection money from the workers.
