“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.”

One of my favorite Chesterton quotes, and I'm paraphrasing, is that pagans should follow their own tradition in that the last thing they do is convert to Christianity.“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.”

Bishop Gumbleton had never been defrocked. He resigned like every bishop does at 75 and remained a bishop until his death. If he had been defrocked, the media/church would not have titled him as bishop.
