Any WDET without Nkenge Zola ain't WDET at all.
Some context: Detroit public radio station WDET-FM marks 75th anniversary with major local programming news.
Also, Michigan Radio was recently rebranded as Michigan Public, ostensibly because it's no longer limited to over-the-air radio.
Are these two changes related or just coincidental? Anyone know?
Could we please get a link to whatever news source this came from?
Well, from 12-3pm sounds like old show format[[mixed long duration)
with the little voice to break up the feel.
I like it.
As for the other changes....eh.
Looks like the programs 1A with Jen White, Snap Judgement, Revealed and This American Life are gone. Very disappointing.
I'm listening to 1A on https://www.michiganpublic.org/ right now.
I volunteered 8-10 hours a day twice a year for 16 years at WDET during their fundraisers. My motivation was to support the excellent low budget local music shows. During the these years, I learned of the eye-popping charges the national shows wanted to charge little old DET. Then I would do some quick math multiplying the costs and stations signed up on the NPR network and thought wow! That's why if you listened to Car Guys, Keillor, etc. it was via Ann Arbor's station. Some of the shows Brandon misses can be found on the NPR site.
WSU and CMU or UOM are all public *.*
WSU was so vibrant. Hopefully, bringing it, or most back.
So far is not much better as far as content.
