Default Voting ends Dec. 5 > Highland Park's 'Mama Shu' needs your votes...

This local woman has done lots of good, maybe Dyes can help her expand the reach of her "village"

A Highland Park community leader on a mission to turn "blight to beauty" in her city was named one of CNN's Top 10 Heroes and is in the running for the network's 2023 Hero of the Year award and $100,000 to support her work.

Shamayim "Mama Shu" Harris is the founder and CEO of Avalon Village, a nonprofit rejuvenating a block in Highland Park by creating spaces and offering support for the community.

I hope the minority who've posted aren't the only Dyes voters... But, then again, there are over 1400 views for this topic. Maybe they're all voting daily

Here's a "back up plan". I was looking at the "gofundme" set up for Avalon Village [[which is far, far, short of it's goal btw), which would be a good thing if you're able and feel inclined to give.
Then, I looked into the fees they collect [[a bit over 2.2%), which aren't horrible, but I like all my donation to get there if possible, so I looked for a way to make it happen.
The Avalon Village website offers all sorts of options for giving and you can even choose which of their projects your $$$ go to, if you'd like.
