If you have no counter, resort to personal attacks, just like you are told to do,seems to be a common theme.

Had dinner here in Las Vegas with Canadian friends Ken and Lynn from Toronto. For a change instead of driving down to Buffalo and catching a US carrier to LV, they caught a [[relatively) inexpensive flight from Toronto to LV and back. Had a great time and a fine dinner together. Didn't mean to threadjack, but just wanted to show that international travel is still no big thing.

You keep showing how oblivious you are in regards to the real world,do you actually think somebody is that stupid to post stuff like that online just because you asked for it?

Or maybe you think there are places that have bright neon signs saying - ENTER HERE.

You have nothing to contribute to this thread outside of following me around like a little puppy dog, seriously are you like 6 years old?

Get off of your ass and walk the 5500 mile long border, then you can come back and dispute that there is no way to cross it absent of dealing with BP,outside of that all you are doing is what you are accusing others of and reaching new levels of silliness in the process.

Of course you may have to get parental permission before you can attempt to cross the street unaccompanied and start the trek in the first place.

Over the weekend, Masse shared a letter written to him by Mark Weber, national president of the Customs and Immigration Union, warning of a deteriorating situation at Canadian points of entry and describing the ArriveCAN app as “problematic.”

They know they have a problem, all they had to ask you and you could have told them they do not and it would just go away.

Dual citizen here, live in Detroit, from Windsor originally, I have been using the ArriveCan App since its inception, am totally vaccinated, and presently using it every three days at least, my spouse, an American ,also uses it independently to cross to see some of my family in Windsor. Neither of us have even had an ounce of problem using the app, it’s pretty simple and easy. Just a personal experience, but I don’t even know what half these people are going on and on about. It’s a no-brainer and not rocket science to use when crossing the tunnel into Canada.

As an individual one has a small snapshot in the bigger picture, nobody has a problem until they do.

When the border patrol its self, who sees and deals with the bigger picture says there is a problem, there may very well be a problem.

The example given was the 86 YO man was not a technology person,so is that where we are at in the world, embrace technology or lose your right to travel?

Just because people have to have all the latest technology and the newest $1000 phones to look cool does not mean the rest of the population needs to get into lock step.

I find it interesting when we have hurricanes and no power for extended times, like weeks on end, people walk around dazed and confused because they lost all of their technology, they are lost.

Try buying groceries with your Apple Pay when the super market has no internet or power.

    There is never a plan B .

I do not get the whole because I do not have problems it automatically equates to nobody else should or will,I speed all the time but never had a speeding ticket in 45 years,I do not understand why others complain about getting speeding tickets,I never had a problem.

Mortgage broker sends me forms to fill out online, the stupid little boxes did not line up with the lines to input the information, call him and he says, yea that happens sometimes.

I could of spent the same amount of time driving there and filling them out without the aggravation.

1/2 the time with government and corporation online stuff does not even work,it may for some but you have to have the latest technology in order to deal with it and not everybody does.

So what happens when somebody that flips across the border every day and that program on your cell phone is required cannot be activated because your cell service is down?

Of course there are 75 countries in the world where one can visit or travel with zero vaccine requirements so who needs Canada anyways,no big deal.

I have to drive over to Kingsville on Wednesday. Please tell me where I should cross without messing with BP. I don't need multiple locations, just one.

I haven't had any problem with most of Canada's pandemic measures but this app seems pointless. What are they hoping to gain from any info in the app? I found it difficult to use the search function to locate the border crossing I was using [[Queenston/Lewiston Bridge, Niag. Falls) two weeks ago. I thought the location and date returning was the last thing to enter so I closed the app. When I got to the border a very snarky border agent told me I should have completed the last entry, contact phone number, and I was lucky I was only getting a warning and not being made to quarantine in a U.S. hotel for 2 weeks at my expense. When I crossed the Ambassador Bridge a week later the agent didn't even mention the app.
I don't know why we can't just be required to show proof of vaccination if requested, the same as the U.S. does. By the way, fully one-third of travellers at Toronto airport haven't even started to complete the app and they've set up kiosks with people to help them do it to speed things up. I can certainly see why a lot of Americans would say with this app hassle, why bother with a short visit I don't really need to make.

My 70 something year old retired parents decided to take a short trip to Windsor Casino last weekend [[Their first trip to Canada in about 5 years). They took along their passports and vaccine cards and made their way across the Ambassador Bridge. To make it short, they won't be returning to Canada anytime soon, and probably never again.

They said the agents were friendly enough, but informed them that could be detained for not preregistering for the crossing using the app. They offered to turn around and return to the U.S, but were told that wasn't an option and were further delayed and questioned while in customs. Without my assistance my parents can't even figure out how to send a picture on their their phones, so I doubt they'll be downloading an app or registering online just to cross the border again. LOL.

^ Johnny5... I can picture the Detroit Casinos posting a billboard near the bridge/tunnel warning people

"Are you sure you want to go to Canada without a filled out Customs App? You could get jailed, fined, or made to spend 2 weeks in Canada in quarantine! Go to the Detroit Casino's where no red tape or SmartPhone guru skills are needed!"

Even with the app they reserve the right to pull anybody for random testing ,so it is still a crap shoot at best.

Go to sleep you are drunk, the thread is not about the Florida coast line.

Its a case study of watching in real time as a country transforms from a democracy into a dictatorship and how far people will go to justify it.

Yeah canuck, while we're building a wall and storing citizen's photos and financial data, after probing questions by border guards with nearly unlimited police powers, you guys are somehow a dictatorship for requesting visitors to use an app.

Still wondering Richard, whether to take the bridge tunnel, or ferry. Which one is it that I don't have to bother with BP?

  16. #41

I just came here to say that I have crossed several times since November, both in Detroit and Niagara Falls and have not had a problem using the ArriveCan app. If anything, it has made the crossing quicker as fewer questions seem to be asked. For anyone who has basic smartphone skills, or anyone who knows anyone who does, completing the app's questionnaire shouldn't be difficult at all.

I entered my information, snapped a picture of my ID and my vacc card, answered a couple of easy questions, told them where and when I was coming, and I was done. Once the information is in the app it stays there for subsequent and you only need to answer the questions and enter the when and where again.

It's not a big deal at all actually. But then I see Richard as usual spreading his long-winded senile poop all over everything in this thread, and I remember again why I rarely come here anymore.

^ wow shocking,at least you finally contributed something,as long winded as it was,and probably total BS,before you got your usual attack plug in.

Make sure you contact BP and tell them that they are also full of it,sense they also agreed there is a problem.

Of course if you actually took the time to read the link provided, you would have known that already.

Seems to be no shortage of people who think the world was put there for their personal pleasures and everybody should bow to their wishes.

It’s funny how you always move the goal posts around in your comments in order support your tirades, next you will be asking me for a border crossing hassle free 5 steps from your front door.

Just like Detroit has special little gas pumps that nobody else in the world has.

I kinda figured you would have answered the call from your Antifa buddies in Oregon after they declared war on the bikers, same levels of stupid,I guess they did not get the hint after one got his ass beat talking smack to a biker, while the police watched.

little bit different then terrorizing soccer moms and clueless protesters.

Thats what happens in the real world when people run their mouth, kinda hard to hide behind a computer.

Maybe you could really do something productive that helps your cause out and grab your little buddies and go after the biker clubs in the Detroit region, show some solidarity, you know, actually stand for something besides talking crap on the internet.

17 more of your buddies got arrested at the capital today, for doing the same thing that they accused others of doing,of course you are going to stand by dictatorships, that is your dream and that is how you guys operate, rules for you but not for me.

    Notice the pattern.

Do you actually read your posts and apply any logic to them at all?

Just like the other one, writes a post about how they had no issues with the technology, then goes on to say the reason they do not contribute as much any more is because of me.

He can download and figure out the border technology but cannot figure out how to block somebody in a forum so he is not so triggered by what somebody else is posting.

It pretty simple,I posted that you can cross the border without the hassle of border patrol by skipping them, your come back is you want me to tell you how to do it in a public forum and it has to be within walking distance from your front door.

Do you want me to post on the internet in a public forum where you can buy a ton of cocaine in South America?

That just takes ignorance to a whole nother level.

You do not even have a supermarket within walking distance from your front door.

It’s one thing to say,I use the program and have no issues, but another to say because I had no issues anybody else that does must be a moron.

Thats as dumb as me saying,I have been self employed the majority of my life, anybody that works for somebody is a moron, anybody that rents over home ownership is a moron, anybody that pays interest on a declining asset, like buying a new car is a moron.

But I do not say that because I am grown up enough to understand everybody is different and not everybody has the same capabilities.

In this case, the guy is a grown man,why should his daughter, who may not even live with him have to down load a program on her phone so he has to have her as a shadow and contact her every time he wants to flip across the border.

Kinda defeats the whole being independent of others.

To make matters worse,it is the same people that were saying we should have open borders in the recent past are now justifying tighter restrictions, simply because the one implementing them is of the same fabric of your party.

You guys created all sorts of discord when the previous administration talked about tougher border security on the Canadian border, but when somebody else that had the same dictatorship aspirations as you do,does it.

You trip over yourself justifying it.

People in Ukraine went from one day to the next and had zero technology, nothing.

All these people that went to WFH that are now discovering how unstable the internet can be no matter who the provider is and complaining because they need it in order to pay their bills.

They clearly did not think that far ahead and put a plan B in place over something that is supposed to be so important to them, like a job.

Its about having options, people still are refusing to comprehend that we are in a time that we have not been in over 70 years where we can also be in a world war from one day to the next, one minute from the next.

What are YOU going to do if YOU wake up tomorrow and all of your technology is worthless,no banking,no online shopping,no bill pay,you cannot buy gas without cash, you cannot buy food without cash, you cannot cross the border in order to go to work because that technology,is not working and it will be weeks before they can figure out a plan B.

Everybody thinks it will not happen to them, until it does, then what are you going to do?

I remember the early days with computers, people were quick to put everything on them, they crashed and then people were desperate to retrieve that information.

What are you going to do tomorrow if you cross the border for work everyday and BP tells you, sorry systems are down, come back later?

I have less than 12 hours to find out where I can cross the border without "messing with BP". And it doesn't have to be steps from my door, which I never said. You said there are "multiple" locations, so I don't want to be told that there's some catch, like I have to drive to Trout River, NY to do it. Can I cross at Sarnia, Lambton, Walpole, Windsor tunnel, Ambassador Bridge, Detroit truck ferry without messing with BP? Do I need my own boat? My own airplane?

You have multiple things going on with that post.

You are doubling down on being ignorant.

You are changing your stance from originally posting it is not possible to thinking of ways it can be possible.

That’s the difference between, instead of thinking how you cannot do something because they told you that, verses if you put your energy into something you will find there are lots of things you can do that you never imagined.

Now YOUR next step is to figure out how to do it on YOUR own,I am not your daddy or taking you by the hand,it’s time to grow up.

It's obvious he has no idea where these BP-free border crossings are; he may not know where Canada is. It's typical of "know it alls" to not really know anything much or at all.
