University Motel

I have an interesting project where they soon to restore the University Motel [[restore more or less). Anyway, does anyone have a memory of the original sign as having neon? I know the original skin is porcelain which isn't in too bad a shape. I cannot find any period photos from the time it was built [[50's?). If anyone can recall details of that sign I would love to hear from you.

Pretty sure it's backlit translucent plastic panels.

About the third pic down in this thread is one of that motel from 1976?

Doesn't appear to have any neon, and being just 20 - 22 years old in this pic, I doubt the sign would have been majorly rebuilt already.

So it's probably a no on the neon.
