I certainly remember that Sanders on Jefferson. My grandparents lived down the street and my cousins lived just around the corner. Grandma used to stop in there often after she got off the bus on her way home from work at Hudson's. If it was just grandpa and us grandkids perhaps a half gallon of vanilla ice cream and some fudge sauce would show up, or, if we were having company, usually a german chocolate cake.

Yes, my grandparents lived on Phillip between Avondale and Essex, I was on Ashland between Jefferson and Kercheval.
I remember that Sanders had a little stainless steel extension that would hook onto the counter and extend down for kids that weren't tall enough to reach the top of the counter while seated.
Gistok, I also remember the paper water cones in the chrome holders

The Sanders near Gratiot and Pfent [[a few blocks north of 7 Mile) is now a blues bar.
