The one exception I'm aware of is a plan to open in the Prudential Center in Boston, but Detroit is not Boston. Thirdly, they've recently gone public with stating increased theft was driving their lower revenues, something you state is a problem in downtown Detroit.
I disagree. There's a support base in the Downtown area that could support Dick's. Dicks could also do well if a store would open along the RiverWalk, Dequindre Cut, or even in Midtown. Moosejaw prices were too high and they only dealt with camping gear mostly.

I thought you might disagree but nevertheless you will never see Dick's in any of those locations in your lifetime.

Gentlemen, could we please try to repress the background laughter in this thread?

    Thank you.

    No giggling.

We're you one of the bloggers that had commented that I will never see a Nike Store in downtown Detroit in my lifetime?

No but it's not much of a Nike store compared to their flagship stores in major cities. It's a 20,00 sq. ft. outlet store compared to 50,000 for their flagship locations, which is the size of an average Dick's location. Under Armour closed as well. I want downtown retail to do well also but it's an extremely tough time for bricks & mortar stores right now. I admire Gilbert's efforts to fill his many spaces but retail really hasn't gained a foothold downtown yet. Staples certainly didn't close because they were making money.

Well the situation in Philadelphia certainly will make it more difficult for national retailers to come to Detroit!!

Maybe Detroit need to come up with some creative idea to deter this from happening here3

Great news for retail and The Peacock Room owned by the fabulous Rachel Lutz.

Rachel Lutz, the founder of a popular Detroit boutique shop called The Peacock Room, announced she is expanding the brand in two buildings.

According to Lutz, her other stores, Yama and Frida Boutiques, will be absorbed under The Peacock Room nameplate, and the expansion will begin gradually during the holidays and is expected to be complete by the spring.

In the last six months, Gilbert said Bedrock has recruited numerous businesses including retailers Lego, Levi’s, Free People, Alo Yoga, Lush and LoveSac. And Lululemon plans to expand its store downtown, he said: "Woodward will be equivalent to going to a regional mall because there are so many retailers there. And restaurants as you probably already know.”

    According to Dan Gilbert

Good to see that a lot of these shops represent destination retail. Stores that will bring people in from the whole metro area because these brands don't have any other, or few other, local locations. Once you can draw customers downtown with a few big names you can fill in the rest with more common brand stores and local shops.

Bedrock needs to keep the retail momentum going!

On Woodward looks like a Duncan Donuts is opening where Halal Guys would’ve opened. I’m not sure if this a store but say wrapping that said like East Peazy where the former Cornerstone used to be

Wasn't quite what I thought. We don't have LoveSac's in Canada. At least not any that are furniture stores.

It probably will take a few years being that many national chain businesses or restaurants are put on back burners. Ask Rhiana whom after 2 years of announcing Savage X Fenty opening of Woodward still nothing.

Two businesses that are still sitting that haven't open yet and still sitting dormant are Savage X Fenty and The Peach Cobbler Factory. I wonder what the status on both.

I see that Dunkin Donuts, Chick Fil A, and Chipotle are planning to open in downtown Detroit. Too bad they couldn't open before the NFL draft

Peach Cobbler is opening this spring according to their Facebook page, and someone on reddit said Savage X Fenty is still happening.

A vacant storefront in Capitol Park, previously occupied by a pet boutique CITY BARK, appears to be getting filled.

A document taped on the door indicates that 'Juice Box Blend', a smoothie/juicery/ice cream shop/dessert cafe in Hamtramck, is seeking to open in this commercial space in the Griswold Building
