Default Does destiny wait for us or do we create it?

When we are young that is a question that plagues us while seeking the meaning of life.

True story here recently brought to light thanks to the freedom of information act and the declassification of secret documents.

During WW2 the Japanese held a little island off of the coast, they used it for 2 communication towers that controlled their lines of communication for the pacific operations.

As one might imagine the US wanted this thing gone, the bad part is it was defended by 25,000 Japanese troops and more anti aircraft guns per sq inch then any other held position.

The US knew there was no way they were going to be able to ground assault this island so the only way was to bomb it.

So they tried time after time losing many planes and pilots in the process.

So to stay out of range of the anti aircraft guns, the pilots had to fly in at 4000 feet then dive down into the massive wave of anti aircraft fire in order to get to 1000 feet to drop their bombs then get back out before getting shot down.

    3 people per plane,pilot,gunner,navigator.

So on one mission there was a 20 year old pilot with a crew of the same age,he lines up for his bombing mission, keep in mind he has already been shot down before,so he is making his bombing run in a dive and flack hits the side of his plane causing damage.

He continues on,now the plane is on fire, but he continues and drops his bombs and becomes the only pilot to take out one of the communication towers with a direct hit.

But his plane is damaged and on fire and they knew they had to ditch in the ocean.

His navigator and gunner both wanted to jump immediately but he told them no , because he had crashed before he knew that he wanted to get as far away from the enemy as possible.

He waited until the last second to jump and watched his plane crash into the sea,the life raft was floating by him so he climbed into that and set about trying to find his navigator and gunner.

As he was paddling with his hands he saw the enemy boats heading his way to pick him up,to his luck US fighters came back and sunk the patrol boats and he was picked up by a submarine.

There was 8 other pilots that went down but they were captured and he never new until recently what happened to the rest of the crew because everything was immediately made classified and the families were told they had all just gone down on a mission.

So what happened to the captured pilots ?

They taken to the island by the Japanese who were so pissed off over all of the bombings they took their aggression out on their prisoners.

If you do not have a strong stomach or underestimate humanity you might want to skip to the end where I will complete this.

1st prisoner was tied to a pole and everybody on the base who wished to could take a swipe at him, just long enough and enough life left in him when they drug him over to a grave that was dug and he was beheaded before being buried.

But that was not the end .

During the night the drunk commander of the island decided the way to toughen up his officers was to eat human flesh.

So they dig the pilot back up,cut off the meat on his thy, cook it and fed it to the officers.

Pilot #2 was tied to the pole and was used for bayonet charging practice until he died, then they also cut out his liver and stomach and any other parts that they deemed edible then buried.

All this time they made the remaining pilots watch the whole process.

Pilot # 3 said no way he was going through all of that and want them to behead him to end it quick, they refused until he fought them so hard they were forced to behead him.

What happened after that was the same as the others.

That continues on until the last pilot,at that time the commander wanted the remains to last longer to stay fresh so he had his surgeons remove the pilots body parts, piece by piece while keeping him alive in the process.

At the end of the war and while still remaining classified and in secret hearings the US held court, the commander and officers were hanged to death, everybody else that was complacent was
put in jail for 8 years. For war crimes.

So who was the 20 year old pilot whose plane crashed and was rescued by the submarine and narrowly escaped what the other pilots endured, but had to live the rest of his life not knowing what happened to his crew or the rest of the pilots on that mission, all the time second guessing his decision to hold out ditching for so long?

George W Bush Sr. and his crew died on impact because they never jumped out of the plane in time.

So did he control his destiny by making that one decision in that place in time or was his destiny to become president control him?
