They'll be one available. Hopefully Justin Fields. Zack Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask. We know Lawrence is gone to Jacksonville.

That trade was complete and utter highway robbery. I cannot believe L.A. did this. Getting Goff and having a decent draft in April leaves the Lions in a position where they can possibly be relevant next season. It just opens up opportunities.

Quite an interesting deal from many angles. Our new GM was supposedly responsible for the Rams moving up and picking Goff in the first place. This means the Rams will not have a 1st round pick for 7 years. It also means the Rams have spent a lot of picks to get, and now get rid of Goff. He's still a young man by QB standards, and as bad as he was last season, he did show some previous success. I think part of his problem this year was his offensive line wasn't really that good at pass protection. He drifted into panic mode with happy feet, and couldn't protect the football.

As for the Lions, they could trade him if there's any suitors, but I'm hoping they're going to use him as a stop-gap for a rebuilding process. I'm impressed that the Lions may actually have a plan beyond one season, and find themselves with plenty of draft capital to implement one.

As for Stafford, I wish him luck. No, wait a minute...I actually don't ! Could you imagine if he got hurt and caused the Rams to fall apart and they fell in the draft in 2022 & 23 ? My gosh we could clean up !

It's good that they got a guy back with some upside rather than just a mediocre qb. He has the talent the he could put it together for a couple of years while they develop someone else.

Stafford is quite a valuable QB if the Rams gave up all this for him; I wish people here would realize that. I'll miss him and his gutsiness every Sunday

Goff was scouted and I assume recommend by our new GM when he was with Rams. With 4 years left on his deal for a hundred million I am not sure that the Lions will be picking a QB this year. It is possible that Goff will be the guy. If so I hope he has a thick skin. Old saying still stands, Lions QBs and Redwing goalies...

A "decent draft in April" is a big if, since the Lions only have a low third-rounder from the Rams this April. More likely they will go 0-16 next season and pick first in 2022.

They have their own 7th pick 1st round that they earned with that stellar 5-11 record this season. Good news is they have different guys making the selections this year who supposedly know what their doing......

They should still pick a QB at 7 [[Justin Fields) if one drops to them. They need to protect themselves in case Goff doesn't work out.

What's nice is that they have the flexibility to take a QB this year or to wait another year or two. With holes across the entire roster, they need to make sure the #7 pick is used on the best player available, and not focused in on a particular position.

I wonder whether this is a good year for evaluating available QBs other than Trevor Lawrence? I think it's best to pick the cream of the crop, and this may be a better crop at positions other than QB, e.g., wide receivers.

There are a number of mock drafts out there, and many I have looked at after the Stafford trade have the Lions drafting NoDakSt QB Trey Lance.

He's still behind Lawrence, Wilson & Fields on most boards so that assumes they go 1st and they take the 4th best qb, a guy who only played one game this year, with the no. 7 pick? Sounds like a risky proposition - and a Lions type of move.

Or you could always cheer for college sports. Much better than watching multi-millionaries slinging the pigskin or putting the ball through the hoop. The kids are playing for something.

For better odds than the casino or state lottery play numbers through a bookie. I'm pretty sure that state lotteries are just fronts for money laundering similar to the old USSR state lotteries.

What is not fun about betting on losing Detroit teams to lose & consistently winning $$$.

Ah, yes. The old Detroit Lions "we got a new regime" talk that takes place every four years in February.

"Finally we got a GM and coach that can take us to the promised land."

This one is already making deals with his former team. Yeah, okay, he got two late first rounders and a really expensive quarterback. Might be a bargaining chip in there somewhere.

"But this one feels different. He's hiring coaches and coordinators with track records from winning organizations."

A la Morningweig, Mariucci, et all.

We'll be longing for the days of Wayne Fontes and remembering fondly the 9-7 records of Jim Caldwell by September 2022.
