Hard to say but 50,000 for 30 years seems kind of low. Not sure how accurate this is but this is data from 2018. Michigan gained about 11,000 from California in 1 year. To be fair this is assuming the entire Michigan population and not Metro Detroit population.

If the Cali folk are fleeing and considered climate refugees,why would they flee to Fla where everybody is going to drown from sea level rise?
There are many things that cause people to flee,climate change fears is pretty much 6 miles below the bottom of the list.
There has been a large increase of people leaving the suburban core and living out in the country and mountains.
It might not be a bad idea for Detroit or the Detroit metropolitan area to advertise for California escapees. Tell them to bring their money.
