I wish more actuaries were interviewed about Covid19 in the media. I haven't seen one yet.

Actuarial science is all about assessing risks like Covid19 without all the politicians, biases and hyperbole we've been seeing. We need more level heads like Dr. Fauci and fewer TV doctors.

Google Covid and actuary for some really serious resources.

Interesting, it seems that one of the other Re-Open protesters, perhaps realizing the optics of having a doll representing Gretchen Whitmer hanging from a noose would make them look bad, got into an actual physical confrontation with the doofus who brought the doll. MSP had to separate the two and escort the doll-hanger away for his own safety.

    https://www.mlive.com/public-interes...ound-neck.html

Maybe we can start calling this "When Trump Supporters Go Wild."

Anyways it appears the protest was a huge bust otherwise, with only about 200 people showing up. I guess people don't want to fight for their freedom when there's rain? Bunch of modern day Rosa Parks. "Oh it's raining out? Nah, I'm not going to go protest a woman that I legitimately compare to Hitler and who I believe is taking away my basic human rights, I might get wet." Let's hope the weather cooperates for THE REVOLUTION or there might not be one!

Did Queen Gretchmer reinstate MSP's Red Squad to snoop on protestors phone calls?

Michigan 50,500+ coronavirus cases - death toll reaches 4,880

    From article:

Statewide, the average age of coronavirus deaths is 75.3 years old. The state median age of those deceased as of Saturday is 77. The age range of those who have died due to the virus is 5 to 107, according to state data.

Michiganders in the 80-plus age range account for 11% of cases but make up 42% of deaths. Following that age range come those in the 70 to 79 range, who comprise 27% of deaths.

Among the confirmed cases, 53% are female, 46% are male and 1% are unknown. Men account for 53% of the deaths.

By race, African Americans — who count for 14% of the state's population — represent 32% of the state's confirmed cases and 40% of deaths. Caucasians account for 36% of the cases and 50% of deaths. Those of unknown race account for 17% of the cases and 5% of deaths.

So I guess this means that I’m immune and don’t have to wear a mask and gloves because as you can see in the picture below, I’ve had the Corona sickness before!

Well now that the distraction is gone.... I came across a very interesting article that shows the divide in opening our economy too quickly... divided between urban Americans who have been most impacted by COVID-19 deaths, and rural Americans that have been hardly impacted by the virus, but have had to deal with the lockdown ramifications.

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/19/polit...tes/index.html

This article was very insightful... and between now and the November elections we will see a continuation of the tug of war [[along party lines) on how quickly we get the economy going again.

As we've been reminded... this should not turn into a political slugfest in discussions...

I guess we'll see how well this holds up after a Memorial Day weekend of the north country being "opened", even though downstaters have been requested to not go charging up north.

There sure will be a big change in Michigan if President Trump cuts off Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, WIC and military spending in Michigan. Closing the Michigan NOAA offices will not help. And will the census count cease in Michigan?

Don't you have to be registered to vote in Mich?
Are all 7.7 million ballots going to 7.7 million registered adults?

After you receive the application, you have to fill it in and return it to your local City/Village/Township Clerk who then checks it against voter rolls to see if you are registered. If not, you don't get the ballot. If you are, you do.
Also, most of those 7.7 million applications will never be filled out.
They aren't mailing "ballots" but applications for ballots.

My advice to the Dan Wessons of the world would be to STOP listening to Donald Trump's lies.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/news/49...ns-not-ballots

President Trump tweeted early on Tuesday claiming that Michigan sent “absentee ballots to 7.7 million people ahead of Primaries and the General Election.” He alleged that the move was done “illegally by a rogue Secretary of State.”

Benson responded to the president, saying, “Hi! I also have a name, it’s Jocelyn Benson. And we sent applications, not ballots. Just like my colleagues in Iowa, Georgia, Nebraska and West Virginia,” in a tweet.
So just to re-cap for Dan: These are applications for a ballot being mailed, NOT actual ballots. Plenty of other states are doing the same thing, including red states, but the red states aren't being singled out for attacks by Trump. And, finally, Trump was LYING when he claimed that Benson was sending "7.7 million absentee ballots." That was a demonstrated, provable lie. He's lying. Please stop parroting his lies.
