I still have yet to hear of public outreach events involving Young. I've gotten a couple of email blasts for Duggan events. All the candidates need to do plenty of outreach and more.

Yea, I hear Colman "the clown" or "Junebug" as he's called in some circles; reacted rather harshly calling all of the former cabinet members, "traitors"....lol! This guy is not ready; doesn't have the right temperament let alone qualifications.

Well most politicians come from wealth or some sort of nepotism, hell even trying to get a job most of us that don't have nepotism on our side have to work twice as hard to get anywhere. This Coleman Young Jr though was a subway samwhich artist before he was a city council intern though, lol. Then he was elected to the state after that little internship which must be nice.

Baring any skeletons coming out of a closet, Duggan will handily win this race.

Now for next up CAY2... On a purely political observation this man has the juice. He is an outstanding, lively and charismatic public speaker, with an impressive command of vocabulary and grammar. Most important he knows how to speak to the people present in a good-humored and quick-witted manner.

He is no dim wit, quite the contrary, and the fact that he worked as a subway sandwich maker and interned in city council is what I call a good start. I'm still learning about him and have not yet formed an opinion. But in baseball terms, this kid is a top major league prospect.

Here is video playlist I created that were the basis for the comments above:

Well today is the filing deadline for the mayoral election, unless someone throws their hat in the ring at the last minute it will be a battle of Duggan vs Young primarily.

Wonder if Duggan will do the ""Black Church Circuit"" to drum up support ?
-- Would he be welcome, would he be invited, etc., etc.

Maybe Coleman jr. booked all the time available in advance.......

I get a chuckle reading the comment section of the Freep and Detroit News when CAY Jr is mentioned. There is someone posting under various names cheerleading in a big way for CAY Jr. , really knocking Duggan. I traced the cheerleader on facebook back to being a friend of CAY Jr.'s mommy. No surprise, no big deal one might say? The cheerleader really is a loudmouth. You will see her in more places. I like Duggan and hope he stays mayor.

CAY Jr has not even bothered to finish an undergrad at Wayne State yet, I wish my dad was the mayor

I'll be honest. Before Duggan became mayor, I didn't consider voting for him. The fact that he was from Livonia, was one of those reasons.

I'll admit that Livonia's elimination of public transportation millage of SMART, made me bitter to some of those suburbs that made it hard for those looking for jobs that don't have cars, to get to those jobs.

When he was elected, his actions have changed my view of him.

DDOT has improved over the years, with a new express Woodward that goes all the way to Somerset. I'm a lot more confident now that public transportation will continue to improve under his leadership.

Much more has been changing since he has been mayor, and most for the better.

CAY Jr, despite the time spent in Lansing, will not be enough to convince me to vote for him this time around. For some, should he be elected, his vote will be the result of name recognition alone.

Under Duggan, like most mayors before, there has been more improvement downtown and midtown than the rest of the city.

That fact, is what makes CAY Jr, appealing to those who feel that they have been left behind of the "Detroit Comeback".

A debate has to be done soon between these men. Even though Duggan has the most endorsements, what matters is the votes of those that are residences of the city of Detroit. Downtown and Midtown is progressing just fine.

What about the rest of the city and its neighborhoods? The Eastside and the Westside?

That question has to be answered by both candidates in a televised, streamed, or by radio, debate.

And those answers had better be good ones.

I think that it depends on how it is handled,it is a large scope of demolition projects that probably has not been attempted before.

Everything is being looked at so no way to draw a conclusion of improper use of funds,I also kinda think that the mayor would have been isolated,so hard to find the smoking gun aspect.

Somebody had posted a meme of Mr Youngs shutdown website, there is a update here as to why.

He goes from some really good ideas to things that are already in place and being worked on to some downright scary stuff.

I agree with his thoughts on Belle island and the whole EM aspect but do not feel
that now is the time to take on that fight and create turmoil and more us verses them.

Cool! I'm voting for him then.

Young said he plans to fight to restore the city's assets including Belle Isle, and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. Young said he also wants to "undo the constitutional breaches triggered by the unconstitutional Emergency Manager Law and the Bankruptcy which defrauded Retiree pensions and city coffers."
Coleman said, if elected, he would propose the creation of a two-person pod skyTran system, an elevated transit that uses electromagnetic power for personal rapid transit. According to the plan, the system would use Maglev, magnetic levitational energy.
According to the plan, the NASA Ames Research Center in California has a similar system in place.

Inclusion of a skytran should offset all of the other hair-brained ideas in his plan...
