Dug out some old cassettes of live broadcasts I made way back when and converted them to digital to play on a PC. One of them was a special on Glenn Miller from CKJY in their Big Band Music Of Your Life format. They must have had some special equipment or I got them on a good night for signal because it's still among the best sounding recording I made then. I have a few from WWWW, WJZZ, WQRS and WUOM that sound good, but not AS good.

Kind of bummed, but it certainly dates the tape I have.

I thought I was the only one remembered CKJY. I used to listen to it a lot, even though I was around 13-14 at the time. I do remember them having a very clear sound.

I, too, remember the excellent audio of CKJY. They had a particularly peppy big band playlist, as well...upbeat big band, if you will. I have a recording of the daily strange format switch from big band to Top 40 during the CFXX years, when two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon were Top 40.
