This just happened today. First big snowfall and in spite of winter tires on cars. Apparently, the road hadn't been sufficiently salted beforehand. Note that busses have no winter tires. The street is a hilly one: Beaver Hall Hill.

On second thought, what was needed was a sweeper because these vehicles are definitely curling!

Same thing happened to me five years ago on an icy Oakland Co. dirt road. Dome shaped road, no sand, less than 15 mph. My truck started drifting right, Anti-locks no use, headed right for a tree 1 ft. from the edge of the road and connected mid hood. It pushed everything up to the engine block, and I could not afford my $1000 deductible, so I sold it as is.
