Actually, when the European Christian oligarchy chose the dark ages, in much of the Islamic world science, mathematics and art were thriving. Ironically today much of the Islamic world seems bound for a new dark age. A primary purpose of religion, particularly when combined with politics, is to divide people. Neither side should get a pass.

Thank goodness the campus officer was appropriately armed to put this down fast as it occurred. Many more could have been maimed or killed. Purposeful violence as this rolled out has to be responded to quickly and effectively.

I am hoping the injured students and staff have a speedy recovery from their physical wounds. Emotional wounds may take far longer to heal. You don't go to school expected to be run down by a car and/ or slashed by a hatchet!
