It might be fun to try to come up with an even worse name for a casino.

    Melvin?
    Poindexter?
    FDIC Insured?

If it was renamed "FDIC Insured Casino Hotel Detroit at Greektown" I would not even think of what would happen as a result.

Eggsactly. At least it is not turning into a Trump Hotel and Casino. Dumbest thing is that developers pay to have his name up on their buildings. Let's just hope the Renaissance Center doesn't go Medieval Center on us...

I so enjoyed reading this thread. Thanks to all who commented. Its rare to have such a uniformity of agreement on a topic on this board. Perhaps none of us are in the target demographic for The Jack.

PS At Halloween will they light the windows and call it the Jack-O-Lantern at Greektown?

Suggest it to them. They'll go in for it, just like the new casino name got approved.

Wow, did Gilbert drop the ball on this, idiotic and embarrasing name. The big Greektown sign on the hotel looks very appropriate on it and welcoming. Now a huge sign that says Jack? 8 mile is getting closer. Very tacky, a scar on the downtown landscape.

More news to get jacked about:
Jack HQ moving to floors 2-5 of the St. Mary's school bldg. Ground floor to be left open for future retail/commercial use. Will create some more available office space in the One Woodward Bldg, and add more jobs in Greektown. Greektown Casino to get new name in early 2017.
