Default Parking For Hotels Near Comerica?

There are a number of hotels, e.g., Hilton Garden Inn, Greektown Hotel, etc. which cater to visitors who may be on leisure [[i.e., not business) and have a vehicle to deal. Maybe the tourist who comes to Detroit for a night/following day baseball game, maybe a couple hour trip to the casino, etc. Don't want to deal with valet parking, etc.

    Any suggestions or ideas?

My suggestion would be to valet park. Its super convenient, you pull up get out of the car grab your bag and let them put it in a secure garage. When you need it call down or walk up and ask for it. It will arrive, give them a tip [[ in Detroit I always tip twice as much as normal when satisfied because I just enjoy being able to contribute to a working persons income in the city but that may just be me ) then get in the car and off you go. Why would you want to make a problem when the hotel provides the service to solve the problem?

Go check to see if the digital meters on Larned [[across the street from The Crowne Plaza) are still out of order. They were at this time last month, I was told they will be for some time. It's across the street from The Crown valet entrance and those guys are around 24/7 watching the block. I saved $100 versus using their valet[[daily fee+tips) over the 2 night stay during the week. I didn't leave any valuables in my car and it all was good. Even came and went a few times..

I've also parked overnight along Lafeyette while staying at the Book on 2 separate occasions. I'd rather spend the parking money somewhere else, I've given the hotels plenty to stay there. I'll have opportunities to tip all over my trips so... I figure I wont be able to get free parking ten years from now so better take advantage of "old Detroit" luxuries before they are gone.

I would be shocked if these hotels don't have parking facilities, or at the least, parking arrangements with adjacent lots.

When I stayed in greentowns hotel for a weekend last year the parking for valet was free or at least included in the room rate. The valet garage is new and massive.

Are we talking Greektown Casino Hotel? Last I checked there's an enormous and free parking garage, and not just for hotel guests.

The Z-Lot is on the next block from the Hilton and is right off a people mover station, as is the Compuware Garage.

I stayed in the Marriot for the Movement a week and a half ago, the parking in valet was $25 for the night. Compuware or Z lot is not going to be much cheaper for 24 hours. If your looking for free Dbest sounds like he knows what he's doing.

Yep, I was thinking of that or the free stuff Bham mentioned...

You can also park for free in the MGM garage. Then walk two blocks to the People Mover and 75 cents later you're at any hotel downtown. Sometimes if you want to be frugal, you have to expend the effort.

Akin to taking the bus to the subway for $5.00 if you fly into LGA as opposed to a $75 cab into Manhattan. A little more time spent but much cheaper.

I think we have different definitions of two blocks... Regardless, MGM is certainly an option. Anywhere downtown is still about a mile walk at most, plus the people mover is probably about 1/2 mile from there. If you don't want to make the walk, you can use UberX and it will take you anywhere downtown for $4. Before I moved down here, MGM was my go-to parking for just about everything.

As others have pointed out, Greektown you can just park in there garage. Hell, unless there is a major event going on, you can usually park there for free even if you're not staying there.

How can one tell the difference from someone spending the night at the Greektown Hotel and someone gambling for 18 hours [[other than the gambler probably isn't happy if he lost $)?
