Down in our hood... I don't remember a White Castle but I do remember downing many Top Hats from the Gratiot/Van dyke corner. Before that we would walk to Harper/Van Dyke to get 'Sliders' from the White Tower burger joint.

So was McDonald's and 7-Eleven. it's a Detroit message board, and threads that have nothing to do with Detroit are just clutter.

    Such rubbish this is!

What some on this website fail to comprehend is that for most normal people there is more to life, and more in the world in general to discuss than just Detroit. Detroit is not, never was, and never will be the center of the universe.

Those who are so blindly obsessed with Detroit [[be it positive or negative things) that they get all bent out of shape when folks discuss topics other than Detroit should start their own website. Feh!

For that matter Spartan is headquartered in Kent County, MI, not Detroit.

Wow White Castle is an institution in Detroit? I've never liked White Castle and only ate there once when I was drunk and discovered I didn't like it.

It's not dining for everyone, or often. That's for sure. Still I've not had mine for the new year. Drats!

Course I've also pulled out my juicer to get back on track nutrition-wise. WC is a one off. Not daily fair.

My first memories of White Castle.. eating in the car with my family when I was little, early '70s at the 8 mile/ gratiot location. Also all the stainless steel and the stools when I waited inside with my dad for our order, something about it was cool to me, like Sanders and other older type lunch counter places. I love 'em.

Last time I has Top Hat was early '90s, had to be that Gratiot/14 mi location.

Only had Top Hat once. As a girl scout we did a hike from Marquette school to Chandler Park. We were treated to bags of Top Hat burgers.

I went out about an hour ago for some White Castles. First time eating one in at least 30 years. I brought back 20 of them along with 2 large orders of onion chips. My wife was not too pleased with me bringing them in the house. She thinks they have a foul odor to them. The wife and daughter would not go near them but my son and I made a good dent in them. I had six and he had five. Oy! What a nice treat they were. Delicious!

^^^ Sounds like you brought home some radioactive materials... Hah! Twenty sliders! That was more than a sack!

First nice thing you have posted. We eat little meat but WC can be so good on the rare occaision. Try the onion chips with tartar sauce, [[not theirs) A slice of sinful eating does a person good

First nice thing I have posted???

Oy vey! Oh dear sweet beleaguered Saint Sumas, I didnt know you were the arbiter of nice/mean. It would make sense since most of your posts are either bragging about what you want to portray yourself as doing in the way of charity [[which is most questionable) or lashing out with vulgarity and condescension at anyone with whom you disagree. Please keep your opinions about the "niceness" of other's posts to yourself.

Please get down off of your high horse. You have been riding that tired old nag so hard for so long. She surely must need a rest. Feh!

I do not feel any contempt for you, my dear. I adore your posts as they are so telling. There is no other member of this website that gives me as hearty a laugh as you do. I will continue to pray for you.

Another thing I sorta like about WC is that the coke pop is not 'watered' down and has strong carbonation. The small size is huge... fun for burping in the car or at home...... It's just best to eat all the WC stuff in the car rather than disturb folks at home!

Please bear in mind: If you do not make tomorrow a better day than today then what need have you for a tomorrow?

Funny your words sound a lot like verses from Jesus Christ Super Star. How does that go," try not to worry, try not to hang unto problems that upset you... don't you know everything will be alright, everything fine...

Patronize me if you wish. I sleep well. I invest in community and today was a good day and tomorrow will be even better.

Got a call from a friend who is retired. Travels extensively. He plans to visit soon as he is back in town. He calls me sweet Su, he means it, unlike you.

I enjoy tremendous respect from family, friends, neighbors, my church community and other churches that are local. I make my mistakes but they come from love, sharing, caring, giving. They nuture me, as I do them.

God bless you and keep you in his fold.

    Keep eating those sliders.

"Jesus Christ Super Star"??? No, I'm not one to spend precious time on fiction, I have never seen that play. I prefer reality. I do not get down on my knees and beg and plead in front of clay statues. But more power to you if that is what you do.

When one feels the need to go on and on and on and on boasting about how respected or respectable they are the reality is usually quite the opposite. Truly respectable people do not go around telling folks that they are such. Fantasy is rather sad. Humility is a virtue.

God bless you. I will keep you in prayers.

Well I must say you fell to a new low in insults, "beg and plead in front of clay statues", You just insulted all Christians world wide. Actually mutiple religions.

You being of course a good member of the Jewish faith could not even reply properly to my greeting.

I respect diverse opinions and you have the honor of being the only forum member that I will block.

I do not need your blessings that are overtly not sincere. God will ultimately judge me on my commitment, actions and faith. Certainly not you.

I have my opinions about your fake persona but then you're blocked so I don't need to take insults nor faked blessings from some toad
