It's a boring bedroom community and you like it that way, makes sense I get it, but does every time anything happens out there immeadiately have to go to the top of this board? It continues to pile on to the us vs them endlessly and that shit has been an endless failure.
Wtf. You live in Bloomfield. Lol

Exactly, Bloomfield Hills & Twp, Birmingham, Northville & Plymouth, Grosse Ile, Orchard lake are all very similar but combined they are not as endlessly self promoted on this board as the points. Then you wonder why the points end up with a target on their back. duh.

Ease up, dude. You're the only one taking shots here. As far as who is posting this shit, I've started maybe one thread on here. Target? Geez take a pill.

Yes well maybe the proximity of the Pointes to Detroit proper has a lot to do with it. But again, we want to get rid of this dichotomy of burb-city on these threads. Let's make way for a real evolution toward a metro Detroit spirit.

Try looking @ a map. There's 5 areas of "Grosse Pointe", therefore they're called "The Pointes", you know, like "The D". Do you even have any idea who Robert Tannahill is or what he's done for Detroit? Ask mom to take you to the DIA and read the labels. THAT's why the fuss about the house burning. duh.

Further, why don't you go tally up the threads and posts... I'd bet they run 2-1 "anti" GP versus "self promotion". Slamming the Pointes is a particular obsession for many on this board.

A bonafide member of the lucky sperm club that collected and donated art
your right, that is soooo rare... This entire metro area needs to quit worshiping/slamming its past and look to the future.

I have a hard time understanding envy/snarkiness of this type. Even if he was a member of the "lucky sperm club," he did all that could be expected, collecting and donating a major portion of the art at the DIA- over 1000 works of art. And then leaving at least $12.5 mil [[1980 dollars) as an endowment to the DIA.

Maybe he was born with more than you or I but he gave a hell of a lot and left the city better than he found it in a way that he could. I'd say what he did was pretty rare.

Why begrudge a man that was born different from you or I? Judge him on what he did.

So a question about all the newer homes surrounding the Tannahill manse on Briarwood and Newberry...what was there prior to those homes? Which estate[[s)?

Am I understanding correctly that there wasn't any art destroyed in the fire?

Briarwood Place was the site of an estate belonging to one of the Sheldons. Newberry Place was the site of Drybrook, Truman Newberry's estate.
