'Reanimate the Ruins' Winner Announced for Packard Plant Rejuvenation

The Parisian architectural firm Nadau Lavergne Architectures has won the 'Renaminate the Ruins' competition to re-vision the Packard Plant. The ambitious plan would carve streets through the site creating a community of mixed residential and business properties. A segment of the ruins would remain in its current decrepit condition.

The competition headed up by Detroit Future City was held through the site Parallel Projects and a carried a small award of $3000. Presumably there was the additional allure of getting the actual architectural contract should the project funding materialize because as one can see great effort was made in the proposal along with the many others offered.

Is this for real or a quixotic mission? Not matter what it has unlocked a magnificent outpouring of imagination.

Yes, I was approached about who would make a good judge and I immediately recommended 56packman. He knows the full history of Packard and the story of the EGB plant. Plus he is a great student of architecture. He made a great representative for Packard.
