Completely agree with you on all counts, Richard. In summary, what you said is equivalent to the fact that it takes money [[usually way more than initially thought) to accomplish all kinds of things that people tend to bitch about time and time again.

For example; in order for Detroit to have the revival that we have seen in Downtown over the past 3 years, who specifically could have done what Dan Gilbert did? The pool of billionaires aren't that big, so blaming the low-income residents or even the middle-class residents doesn't hold water.

Heck, as you so eloquently articulated, even a clean plot of land, time to spare, and $10k to spend on startup cost, aren't even close to being sufficient to create jobs and positive social impact in any Detroit neighborhood.
