The financial geniuses in Lansing must have slept through the discussions of the debate over changes to the federal tax code and failed to take into account how those changes would affect tax receipts in the wake of those changes.

Not the only ones. Across the country states and local governments have reacted to every bump in revenue be it from federal tax activities, real estate bubbles, or other anomalies as a permanent forecast for future growth. Rather than treat it as "pennies from heaven" and spending it on one time buys or socking it away for a rainy day, it gets incorporated into future budget forecasts as a revenue stream which will go on forever.

Don't you know people are tired of pissing away their money with no accountability? Don't you know throwing more money @ a badly managed funding problem it isn't the answer? I guess not.

Front Page NEWS July 2014 for August Wayne, Oakland, Macomb August vote

IF the SMART Property Tax Renewal fails, Mass Transit Ends with the loss of $47 Million per year in local tax collections.

    End Front Page NEWS

    Start Facts

SMART is directly in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for pulling out of Livonia by Tax Shifting which is illegal concerning the handicapped people in wheelchairs

If the tax fails, ALL money, ALL funds, ALL SMART bus service AND ALL SMART Jobs are fully and completely protected under many federal laws. These laws supersede State and County laws

If you vote YES, you are only supporting the Property TAX INCREASE and nothing more.

Your YES vote means you agree with Federal and State cuts, bus service reductions, large freeway expansions, overweight trucks and a total disrespect for tax increases without a proper legal vote of the majority.

If you vote YES knowing these facts, you are a Communist or you support Communist values

Thank you very much for your post

Please Google save the fuel tax org

You win my vote for the most absurd logical leap of the day. SMART pulling out of Livonia was discriminatory? What about democracy? Cannot people make any decision that have any impact on people with disabilities? Every decision must be 100% neutral to everyone?

This kind of thinking is what had Detroit spend millions on sidewalk curb cuts in abandoned neighborhoods rather than hire police officers.

    Thanks for the amusing post.

I'm the one who filed the compliant. The Livonia opt out was the result of SMART replacing State fuel tax money with property tax money.

The vast majority do not regard federal laws as a tool to leverage funding. In some cases it works but so far no one has come up with another way to provide for the masses in Greater Detroit without insanely high per passenger costs and resulting high local taxes.

The SMART millage so far is just a modern day Ponzi scheme and snake oil elixir using alcohol to cure joint pains.

    Apples and Oranges.

Federal funds were used to install those sidewalk curb cuts, and Detroit had no choice but to install them in "abandoned" neighborhoods [[even if say, only 1 or 2 people live in the entire area) as well as the neighborhoods that are still heavily populated because it was a requirement by the federal government.

It's not like those same funds could have just been used to hire police officers had Detroit not installed the sidewalk curb cuts. The money instead would have had to be returned to the Federal Government.

    Apples and Apples

If the August SMART Tax fails, only the increase is defeated

A YES vote only gives Mr. John Hertel of SMART and other top SMART officials bigger paychecks.

Should this pass and it most likely will, the poor will be poorer and the rich will be richer.

Why do so many people don't want higher taxes? Yet, won't challenge me on this? I challenge Mr. Hertel to a public debate

Please get my Website well known. Or maybe we should just raise the SMART tax without cause but to only pay more?
