You know there is more on TV than just CNN, MSNBC and Rachel Madcow. And you think George Soros is not a threat?

more buses should be available to go into all Metro Detroit communities. No more boundaries.

Actually, let's delve into this for a second even though we are so far off topic.

    1. How do you expect for a young person, whose credit score and borrowing history will naturally be lacking due to not having been legally able to build a credit score or loan money, take out a large loan to fund their idea?
    2. Do you think the banks will think this is a great idea?
    3. What happens if this idea fails for whatever reason? The person who took out the loan to "take that risk" ends up saddled with debt and honestly, becomes a burden on society.

And seriously, shut up with that "I'm a special flower" tripe. I spent 10+ years in retail and heard the phrase "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, I AM A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER!" out of the mouths of countless people that would fall under the banner of the Baby Boomers. There are members of that generation who, because they had an easy path to success paved with cheap education, plentiful jobs and cheap real estate, feel that they are the biggest gift to this earth from God Himself. All generations are guilty as hell of being self-important, I deserve to be treated with priority piles of junk a lot of the time. It's just that there is a public channel for these feelings now, and the self-important baby boomers [[who are absolutely just as guilty as members of my generation) say "LOOK AT HOW ENTITLED THESE KIDS ARE! I was never entitled. I am a special flower who WORKED HARD and GOT MY EDUCATION and look where I am!" Unfortunately, the world has changed and working hard doesn't ensure a good job, and education ain't cheap.

I'm out on this because you're just going to spend the next 10 pages squawking about how your experiences are the definitive American experience, how I am wrong because I am young, how my generation is just a bunch of turds, how we're all lazy welfare recipients, etc.

Cute. Real mature for a captain of industry there, mate. Civil discussion means "SyGolden is right always and you are wrong always but only if you disagree", right?

And you never refuted any of the like, four articles I posted. You're the worst! Post some facts that aren't from the Heritage Foundation [[creators of Obamacare, BTW) regarding your "OMG NO TAXES" lies that have been spread all throughout politics. Refute my articles! Discuss this like a reasonable person would. Harvard debates aren't "You're dumb and entitled and I know this because I am a Captain of Industry~"

George Soros doesn't have his hand into the entirety of a political party. The GOP is so controlled by big wealth, it isn't funny. I'm not saying the Dems don't have their own wealth, but the GOP is completely controlled by it. George Soros doesn't bankroll ALEC. But the Koch Bros do.

And I hardly ever watch MSNBC or CNN, mostly because I'm at work all day. I prefer NPR, PBS, or WWJ Newsradio for the local news.

My point is that SMART needs this millage in order to continue as a bus system.

I think there are many people that might suggest that SMART as a bus system SHOULD go away...along with DDOT and then replace them with a true regional system. All this did was take a payday loan to keep our fucktarded system afloat another decade or three.

And I would agree. But if this millage didn't pass the buses would've stopped. The plan should/will be to repeal this millage and replace it with one that will fund the RTA.

Existing buses and newly acquired buses used to replace the aging fleet can be integrated into the new system as well. I look at the millage as a "Stop the bleeding" measure, something that will get us by until the regional leaders understand that we actually WANT a mass transit system.

As a daily rider, 90+ percent of the buses really are on their last legs and need to be replaced ASAP. In my experience, about 30 percent of the buses leak water in the back during rain or heavy snow. The one I rode home on Election day had 4 leaks in the back [[the Emergency Exit on the roof being the most common place for leakage). Breakdowns are also becoming more frequent as these 10-12 year old buses exceed 500,000 miles.

Last time the buses were replaced, it took three years to replace them all, plus the time to bid them out and wait for their replacement. By that time, these buses will be through.

Thank you to everyone who voted for the millage.

Do you know that if everyone voted NO, there would NO cuts in Federal, State or Local funding. This tax replaces Federal and State money

That is not the answer. Do you want to drive even more people and business away from Michigan?
    Great Reply.

Do you know that if everyone voted NO, there would NO cuts in Federal, State or Local funding. This tax replaces Federal and State money, thus IS a tax shift AND INCREASE to pay for legal bus service reductions that are allowed because it is cheaper to pick up single passengers as opposed to line bus service. NO means NO SMART mechanic or bus driver job losses or any service to anyone.

Learn the facts before you vote.

Sure, I'm in favor of 3 Mil, IF someone runs SMART by putting safety first, filling up buses and restoring ALL federal and state money, increasing fare box money to at least 30 percent.

I think Lowell should let me post my name and Website.

I want to challenge anyone and everyone to a transit debate on TV and am somewhat obsessed? with filling up all the buses. I have done that on 4 bus routes in the past and work in the mass transit industry.

I want to cap all transit taxes that do not work because computers now can be used to charge Tolls on HOV lanes and fill up buses and put safety first instead of dead last which is what Mr John Hertel is doing by not taking cars off the freeways by charging MDOT. Overweight trucks are dangerous, thus should pay more but Mr. John Hertel is a big supporter of increasing truck weights and he has proved this by not lobbying against them but instead raised $27 Million per year to replace MDOT funds.

So, it is more freeways and higher taxes unless y'all search save the fuel tax

The SMART bus system will never ever be in the fate of the voters. Transportation is a basic human right that is fully protected by the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Last Tuesday, we succeeded in raising property taxes 40 bucks a year.

So, how about you DetroitYES people getting me on TV with Mr. John Hertel face to face for all of Detroit to see. Let's see the Real plans and get the Real TRUth.

We all know the game is not over. I'm fan of filling up the buses, just like many of you are fans of the Tigers. I wanna see only home runs and wanna win the World series. Second place and high costs and empty buses won't do for me.

Low 1 mil taxes won't do also. I wanna prepare to get more funding by helping Mr. Hertel increase ridership, move cars off the roads and get Detroit the best bus service in the entire World. Second place won't do. We are the Motor City. We can build the buses right here in Detroit, fill them all up and give everyone who wants to work $20 per hour.

And tell Wal-Mart in Livonia to go straight to Hell for paying low wages and not paying for SMART and DDOT.

Then the 3 mil tax will work?
