The nearest neighbors to the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn are several Christian churches. They are just another part of the community. I went to a presentation there once and nothing was mentioned about sharia law. As others have said above, total BS story.

Wow, that was anticlimactic. A guy did address the Dearborn City Council. He did start with a little prayer.

He complained about the Metro Times and another tabloid being distributed at the city's libraries. They were full of filth and other stuff kids shouldn't see. The city council president told him to pound sand because there is freedom of speech in the country.

He complained that he stopped at Ford Field for a lunch break at work. There was a couple of people engaged in some unseemly activity in a car. He asked for additional police patrols to cut down on prostitution. The city council said he should have called the authorities to take care of that particular incident, but the city does not have the resources to do regular patrols.

Finally, he complained about some employment issues [[he works for the city). The council said they couldn't do anything about it.

Wow. That guy was really weird. The council president really took charge there. Most other cities will allow folks to talk for three minutes without interruption and then move on to the next.
