Capitol idea! "Park & Park".
The article has set off a mini-firestorm among the "OMG GENTRIFICATION" crowd, which was followed up by a Curbed article among other things. It wasn't sourced, it was just casually mentioned that the City was seemingly giving Illitch the park, not that it was to remain a park, not that he was charged with maintenance, nope.Actually, the park was simply a sentence or two as part of the bigger narrative.
The article was about the whole entertainment zone and many parcels changing hands, not specifically the park.
A photograph of virtually any parcel would have been appropriate to the story.
On the gentrification note, the people saying it will just be another attraction for the suburbanites... currently it is an attraction for no one except the homeless and some of the seedier elements of the Corridor. The families that live in the city are not likely to utilize this park, nor is really anyone with half a brain. They aren't charging admission, they aren't restricting who gets to use it, they are simply trying to make sure this park reaches its possible potential, as the City doesn't have the resources to care for it.
