You describing yourself again, featherweight? Now, go to the chocolate sauce site and get acquianted with some of the other low IQ welfare collectors that are like yourself and you guys can keep spreading the negativity and keeping this city down. That's the best that you can come up with? The only thing dealing with you is going to get anyone is complacent and unprepared for the true heavyweights. You may want to stick with the featherweight division. I think there are some threads on ant farms and sponge bob that you may find are better suited for your level of intelligence. One final word of advice. Little pussycats shouldn't try to stomp with the big dogs. Now go on kid, scram.
Sigh. That was sad. I don't think any of us believed it was possible. But, your posts have proven that there is finally someone on DetroitYes that would lose a debate to Martha Reeves. Please feel free to respond as many times as you like. I'm done schooling you, class dismissed.
You're not even worth my time with your obviously dumb personal attack attempts. Load up your personal belongings into your shopping cart and roll over to the chocolate sauce site. Next.Sigh. "And as I detailed earlier, it is my understanding that the $1.4 million is cominmg from the $8 million demo fund that is out of state funds. I amy not be exaclty coorect on that but it is my understanding."
Your claim that the money can't be spent in any other way is based on speculation? Your understanding? Can't you get Demolition Jackson on the phone and get a straight answer? I would hope he at least has some idea of where his money is coming from for his demolition jobs.
"I have simply asked which of the announced DDA projects / funding centers anyone would cut to pay for the mothballing of the Lafayette.
Not a single person here has even been able do that simple exercise...all have wandered off into theoreticals."
Let's see, you give us a list of projects that may or may not be from the DDA budget, you think they are but you don't have the actual budget, and there may be millions more being allocated for projects like demolishing buildings for Mike Ilitch or for a new building for Quicken that we know won't happen, but we're not allowed to consider those millions, just the ones that you cherry picked out of the papers. From that incomplete set of information, we're chastised for not singling out one project to be sacrificed. That's an interesting game you want us to play.
The projects I listed and asked folks to choose from are in the FY 2010 budget and have been voted on by the DDA Board of Directors and therefore are fully funded - other wise the DDA Board would not have been able to vote on them. Kinda easy logic there."And as I detailed earlier, it is my understanding that the $1.4 million is cominmg from the $8 million demo fund that is out of state funds. Perhaps one of you, who actually lives in Detroit [[or in most of the cases, near Detroit) and claims to have such a stake and interest in the City could dial 313-963-2940 and ask someone to tell you whether the funding for the Lafayette demo is from the DDA general fund or from the special demolition fund. You seem to be awfully concerned about all this and are colling for the firing of professionals wqith 30 years of experience - experience by the way that resulted in the restoration of the Book Cadillac. Are you ready to fire that team? Are ya really ready to do that? Really?
C'mon Novine. I dare ya. Pick up the phone and find something out. Actuallu do something...
Do it. I truple dog dare ya!
And the question wasn't about whether to use the $1.4 million for demo, it was what program to cut to fund the addional $2.6 - $4.0 million to adequately and securely mothball the Lafayette.
Aaaaaaaand the only reason it actually got off the ground is that the casinos gifted the land that had been condemend for them - so the City got the land for free - and made a contribution of $50 million towards the Riverwalk.
For all the sturm und drang about how nice the east Riverfront area could have been until the big bad casinos wrecked it - the only reason you have any activity over there is precisely because of the casinos.
Thank you. I'm glad that there are people like you, Huggybear and Bill Shea on this site that have a good understanding of business.Aaaaaaaand the only reason it actually got off the ground is that the casinos gifted the land that had been condemend for them - so the City got the land for free - and made a contribution of $50 million towards the Riverwalk.

Or, they just tell you exactly what you want to hear, since you've never met [[or made) a preconceived notion you didn't like.
I think the term you're looking for is "sycophant". That's not to say that their opinions are invalid. It's just that your cheerleading, for shit you know nothing about, is completely obnoxious.
wow this thread got derailed - what's the latest on the building without all the fighting?

The greasers over at the soda shop want to know if the pee-pee stains ever came out of the khakis.

More spin. Ever hear of Tri-Centennial State Park? The State has put millions into the Riverfront and was first in with money.

The question was about the $1.4 million as it speaks to how the DDA spends its money. Still waiting on budget info. We'll see if the DDA can produce any details. Maybe I should have said I was a demo. contractor.

Calm down Peaches, I did give you credit for davewindsor. I noticed you didn't jump on complaining about that.
I've even agreed with some of the things that you've said about engineering. But let's face it, once the conversation enters the business realm you begin to meltdown. Every single time. Trust me, I have a lot of respect for those that don't agree with me most of the time. Andy Linn and DetroitPlanner come to mind. The world would be a very boring place if everyone agreed with me. As long as someone has something worthwhile to say, I'm willing to acknowledge that and give them credit for it. Even you. When it comes to engineering you've shown that you know a little something. But like I've said, you're sense of business is extremely lacking. Instead of getting mad at me you may want to enroll in a couple of classes. Hell, if you really want to do us all a favor, take Novine and davewindsor with you.
As I say to those moron "birthers"....let it go. you look like idiots.
Isn't the overarching issue whether a rehabbed building could be supported by its market? I think so. Once you battle through the dust-up over whether the DEGC operates above-board or stays true to its private nature, if the Lafayette were renovated, restored or redone in some fashion, the owner would have to have income to pay the taxes, loans and other costs.
The overriding issue is that DEGC is making major decisions with public money without performing the necessary due diligence.Isn't the overarching issue whether a rehabbed building could be supported by its market? Before you can determine that demolition is the most cost-effective measure, one needs to perform due diligence to obtain substantive and objective evidence that this is the case. Your speculation is no substitute for a proper evaluation of the existing structure. An objective approach does not change based on geography.
But hey, continue jerking each other off while Detroit continues to casually demolish itself into a pile of shit based on little more than George Jackson's subjective personal opinions. I sincerely hope you enjoy fiddling while Mr. Jackson plays the role of Nero.
It must be early afternoon. Ghettopalmetto has had his daily meltdown. Go take your Ritalin. And remember this time, don't take with alcohol. Before you can determine that demolition is the most cost-effective measure, one needs to perform due diligence to obtain substantive and objective evidence that this is the case. I guess I'd see more truth to your contention if the remaining 138 square miles not under the jurisdiction of the DEGC were some kind of gleaming metropolis. But it's not, is it? It's slowly demolishing itself into a pile of shit, in your words, without the benefit of Mr. Jackson. Before you can determine that demolition is the most cost-effective measure, one needs to perform due diligence to obtain substantive and objective evidence that this is the case. That's too obvious for Ghettopalmetto. Hell, he would kick Halle Berry out of bed until he got an Engineering Report back that told him she's fine as hell.I guess I'd see more truth to your contention if the remaining 138 square miles not under the jurisdiction of the DEGC were some kind of gleaming metropolis. In comes the spoiler, Kraig. An intelligent thread turns to crap whenever Kraig opens his dumb mouth with his "useless" and "try hard" comebacks. What a waste of disk space.
I will not post anything else on this thread for the next 24 hours. All right davewindsor, I'm giving you the floor, show us what pearls of wisdom I've been keeping you from saying. Are you up to the challenge? Whatever you do, don't choke.
Sounds like you just choked.
Once again, you throw in a useless post that offers no value whatsoever or is relevant to this thread. It's gettting really lame. All you do is cut and paste a bunch of comebacks you googled or jump up and down in your skirt cheerleading to try to seek approval from people when all you're really doing is making an ass of yourself You're a phoney. Quit trying so hard to fit in. Get a spine and debate the merits instead of wasting everyone's time with this irrelevant bullsh-it.
