Default Mata Hari's birthplace burned down.

I posted this in another topic from a year ago but after another day I thought this merited a separate topic.

    DISASTER STRUCK!!

A major fire is now raging in the city center! One person is missing, feared dead. One of the structures that was consumed by the fire is the birth place of our most famous daughter, Margaretha Geertruida Zelle, better known by her stage name Mata Hari

At least five, and possibly seven major structures are lost.

The fire started at the Freestyle fashion store. The Hari hair salon is also lost. This is the building in which Zelle was born in 1876. The corner shop is still standing but in grave danger. The street behind it is also ablaze.

Almost all the structures between Poststraat and Kelders is affected.

    Pictures.

    More to follow.

In the early hours of the blaze. It started 17:10 local time. this picture is from the first hour. The hair salon is gone now. The birthplace of Mata Hari.

    Update.
What was feared came true. The missing man was found in one of the buildings. He perished in the fire.

    Update 3:00AM
    The fire is under control.

Even one of the crash tenders of Leeuwarden Airbase was needed.

    From far away.

View from the Poststraat behind the fire.

The very start of it all.

This is a indication about the impact this fire had internationally.

About the Mata Hari Birthplace. She was born on the adress presently known as Kelders 33 in Leeuwarden. The face of the building seems to be in a not too damaged state but behind it there's a lot of damage.

Kelders 33 is the building with the white windows on the right.

The body of the victim who perished in the fire was recovered early in the morning. During the fire the emergency crews were in contact with him but were unable to get him out. One of the most difficult decisions the fire brigade captain has had to make in his life.

That is so densely built it is no wonder there was so much damage. Solace to the Frisian people. [[I always wondered where Frisia is.)

Monday morning a new pocket of fire was spotted in the left building that was burned out. Due to the new ammount of water that was put on the fore, there's now an imminent danger that facade can collapse.

Firefighting in that dense housing situation must be very difficult. Tragedy aside this photo is awesomely beautiful, a photographic work of art.
