The producers should leave some of the set pieces behind, and a new Chinatown in Detroit can be cultivated. I'm serious.

Geez, never thought of what might rise out of Michael Bay's ashes.

Unfortunately, 90% of what was built will not last. If you walk behind the sets you see things like exposed lumber. It would have been cool though if this could have been arranged; people like to come to Detroit to see ruins so this would be brand-new ruins!

Yeah, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for that area. Then you'd have Greektown and Chinatown anchoring downtown in each corner. It could run down Bagley for a couple blocks. If only there were a bunch of Chinese people that wanted to move down there and build stuff...

I was at the Tigers game when that happened, Lowell. The crowd gave it a big cheer.

Thanks for the updates Lowell. Quite the scene eh? They must have spent a lot of time rehearsing the stunts for this one.

Rehearsals are actually very short. After all, how much practice does it take for everybody to run in panic scene after scene?

    Stellar video, Lowell!

The obvious question is: did you have advance notice of when to start filming?

I'm guessing they had to warn neighbors in advance that there were going to be explosions in the neighborhood.

That video really is a spectacular addition to the DetroitYES! legacy. Big boost to the film's PR too.

Everyone nearby was notified when the shooting would start and when it would likely complete. People in buildings around the scenes were told to stay away from camera view of the windows. They didn't want non-Asian faces at windows, since this supposed to be somewhere in Asia.

Lowell had a front row view from his office.

Yeah, but Nugent is such a diplomat... Loudmouth gun-toting redneck from the north...

Those red taxis, are those Toyota's? Could also be Nissan Laurel.

That's interesting. When they filmed the last transformers outside my office they said standing in windows and on fire escapes was fine as people would be easily edited out of scenes.
