What tends to get lost in discussions about public transit is that it benefits residents even if they never use it themselves.

Public transit adds capacity to a regions overall transportation system. [[Would you rather have all those riders driving cars on the highway with you?) It creates jobs and economic development. It reduces air/land/water pollution.

Our federal taxes already support regional transit ... in Miami, LA, Houston, etc. It is way past time that we get with the program and capture our fair share.

Metro Detroit was the LAST major metro area in the country without an RTA. That is not something to be proud of.
