The 11th Annual DetroitYES Picnic takes place on Sunday, June 23.

Starts at 12 noon and runs until late afternoon or early evening. We will gather on Belle Isle, just south and east of the Shadynook Picnic Pavilion along Loiter Way across from the Flynn Skating Pavilion. Click Here for Google Street view and Map

Dave and I will bring a grill, some chairs and tables, a canopy, plus picnicware [[plates, napkins, plasticware, and cups), and other supplies. Starter munchies and beverages, including water, provided.

Attendees bring their own chairs, beverages, and meat or other grill item, plus a dish and/or dessert to pass.

Please help us plan for this event by responding to this thread and letting us know that you are interested in attending, how many are in your party, and what dish you plan to bring to pass. At last count through all the previous postings, looks like maybe 25 people have said they are planning to attend.

Please reconfirm that you are planning to attend and what you are bringing so that we don't have 15 desserts or 10 pasta salads.

If you have never attended a DYes gathering, the picnic is a great way to meet and make new friends. Please join us!!

If you have questions, please post or PM me.

Thanks!! Looking forward to see you all there!!!

You guys have absolutely no idea how much I'd like to be able to go to the picnic, but the 2100 mile commute is a bit long for a weekend. Trust me though, I'll be there in spirit and am looking forward to see the pictures of the event.

It was closed up tight as a drum when we were checking out the area as a possible picnic site. It did not appear to be in use at all.

Nope. And when I called the Belle Isle Admin Office the next day, I got the impression that they would not be opened. There were PortaJohns available down the road.

Me too. I always like seeing folks, but family obligations require my immediate attention. Could someone make sure Danny gets a ride home? It isn't far and he is a fine passenger.

^^^ Will do. Danny can ride with me in my oldie but fine running auto if needed.

Made a quick trip over to Belle Isle this afternoon to check out our picnic site at the corner of Loiter Way and Muse, just north of the Flynn Skating Pavilion, just east of the Casino.

I'm happy to report that all is accessible and clean, with a functioning restroom facility nearby!!

All are welcome!! Feel free to drop by, whether you bring food or not, even if you can only stay for a short time!!!!

Dave and I are ready to go, with plenty of "starter" munchies, soft drinks, burgers and dogs and buns, to get things started.

See you there, Sunday, June 23, around 12 noon!!

Agreed. While there are usually some of us taking photos, we haven't posted them online in several years due to folks wanting to remain anonymous.
