WOW simply amazing ! KNOW we all know why Detroit was called the Paris of the Midwest . Looking at those pictures Detroit was an AMAZING city.
During the turn of the century and 1910 until the freeway were built , very few cities could match Detroit beauty in the US or Europe .
It is sad some much was lost . It was already mention what life would have been like back then , however , It would still be amazing to have saved 1/4 of that .
Back in 1910 Detroit could match ANY city in the US for beauty .
Today most people could care less about the amazing architecture, it's sad that we are tearing down amazing architecture that would never be rebuilt.
    Thanks for sharing

Do you know when the original Detroit Museum of Art building was torn down, looks like a beautiful building.

The one photo detailing the arch and gate of the Y.M.C.A. building looks very much like the work of Louis Sullivan.

The Museum was torn down to make room for I-375 exit onto E. Jefferson.
