Don't know if I miss Faygo Arctic Sun or Banana Frosted Flakes-even if they are Michigan-made.
Those men at the Cryptocereal department said I was mad-MAD I tells 'ya! But I showed them! Yes, the yellow beast once roamed the 1980's in a straw hat and sang calypso.

Also, I think accolades should go out for how I used Abba Zabba, New York Seltzer, Faygo Arctic Sun, and some product emulating something tropical-all to cover the distant four points of the compass---just sayin' that's all.

Recently I've been looking at the grocery stores for the small [[12-16 oz?) metal cans of Hershey chocolate syrup. You had to use a church key to open it and it always reminded me of motor oil! Alas, I don't think they make it anymore. Only comes in the plastic squeeze bottle.

Holy crap! I saw the aforementioned Hershey's syrup today at Kroger. Good thing I'm way past having a sweet tooth...Now for that Aspergum.

This reminded me of a different key used to open coffee cans. You'd stick it over a thin metal tab then twist it over and over, peeling and winding the metal into a long coil around the key until the can was completely open. It made a satisfying "phfft" sound at the beginning as the vacuum was released.

Were church keys ever used to open pop or beer cans? Or did those come only in glass bottles before the pop top? I don't remember.

Apparently church keys were indeed used. Lots of other nostalgia here too: Modern Antiques That Today’s Kids Probably Have Never Used

Long, long time, during nerdier days, I was all about Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. They had a magazine called Dragon that catered to that culture. That kind of thing had great fantasy artwork [[like a cleaner "Heavy Metal") going for it.

The earlier cartoons like Snarfquest and What's New with Phil & Dixie [[by Phil Foglio) were always a hoot. There was one well illustrated comic called Wormy [[the Dragon) by a guy named Trampier. It had a lot of momentum going for it, until financial and legal problems [[along with feelings of resentment for the gaming culture) caused Trampier to abruptly end the comic and disappear from sight.

There was the promise that he would release a compiled collection of the Wormy series [[complete with conclusion), but he died before that could happen. Now, one has to rely on the internet to view this stuff. One only scope these few selections, and you can see why I lament the lack of this anymore.

Isn't that how sardine cans work, or is that a different mechanism?

Yes, it was exactly like those sardine cans [[and SPAM!) except with a deliciously enticing coffee aroma at the moment of the "phfft" sound.
