Some people in Phoenix miss having grass so much that they paint their gravel yards green. It looks really tacky.

Seems a little early yet, but it could be hydroseed. The fertilizer/mulch base they use is often dyed green.

Did anyone notice the basketball 'statue' in that area where MGM has their seasonal displays? Would that explain the green? MSU green, perhaps?
