Cool details on this HT! Thanks. I'd forgotten the nuances from seeing the movie so long ago...

"The new normal" is kind of irksome. I suppose it makes sense in some cases but it seems to be used to invite complacency.

I hate the phrase "reach out"! Can't you just say I'll give them a call or I'll send an e-mail? NOT I'll reach out to them. Even worse when someone thanks you for that call and says, Thanks for reaching out to me. Jeeze!

How about a phrase like "I went to the meeting on today"?????

"Ten cents on the Dollar". If you're an "investor".

"skill set". Instead of ability or expertise.

    "Circle back"

As in, "Let's circle back and deal with that point later."

    Totally redundant in all uses.

"Let's deal with that point later."

Another redundant phrase is "switch out".

    "Can I help who's next?"

NO you CAN'T. the line order formed without any input from you.

    just slightly off topic...
    IN line v. ON line

unless there is an actual line on which you are standing, you are IN line. A line is a collection of points, and you are one of the points IN line

I have a boss who always uses the expressions "it's on my radar" and "touch base". Typically, he uses them simultaneously....and consistently...a conversation usually goes something like this, "this is a real no-brainer. A win-win for all of us. That project is on my radar and when I have more deets we will regroup and touch base". It's almost as if he is paraphrasing every management seminar he ever attended.

I've never heard it in that context

    CONVERSATE or CONVERSATING

    yes, caps.

The words are converse or conversing. This is one that drives me mad. To me, nothing makes someone sound more stupid than using those non-words.
