    I will say that if you're more of the creative/liberal arts bent, Ann Arbor in many ways provides better professional prospects than Metro Detroit. If you aren't a businessperson, factory worker, or in healthcare, you're often SOL in Metro Detroit.

    Don't get me wrong - Detroit does have an OK entrepreneurial creative scene, but that doesn't hire many people. You have to make your own opportunities, which is both a blessing and a curse. There's a reason that "Detroit Hustles Harder" t-shirt sells.

    Ann Arbor does not have that certain grit a major city would have. Detroit, Chicago, NYC, Boston. They all have that degree of grit which get's recognized by outsiders. Need to have that identity!
