Parisian --> Carson's

Not huge news, but the 3 local Parisian stores [[Rochester Hills, Livonia, Clinton Township) will assume the name "Carson's"...as in Chicago's Carson Pirie Scott & Co...parent company Bon-Ton stores has already flipped the former Elder-Beerman store in Frenchtown Township and will do the same the with the Younkers store in Port Huron...they're standardizing around the Carson's name in Michigan...

The Parisian locations were an odd anamoly, having outlived the rest of the Alabama-based Parisian chain which was sold to Belk...which in turn flipped the 3 Michigan stores to Bon-Ton.

Gee that does get confusing... especially since the Louis Sullivian architectural masterpiece Carson Pirie Scott flagship store on State St. in Chicago... is now a Target...

I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner [[like the day after Belk sold the Michigan, Ohio and Indiana stores off). The stores have all had a standard advertising and web site appearance for some time now.

Agreed catch22...considering they flipped the stores in Dayton and Indianapolis right away [[to E-B and Carson's respectively). Suppose at the time of the acquisition Bon-Ton was unsure of what to do with it's regional brand portfolio...I do remember them saying at the time that the Parisian had a strong brand equity in Detroit despite the short time it operated in the area and that the stores did well sales-wise, so they maintained the brand locally...without rights to opening new stores under the nameplate, or using the name in any other way...hindered their ability to expand locally. All that aside, Bon-Ton on the whole would probably make a reasonable acquisition target for either of the big independent southerners if they ever look to expand northward - those being Dillard's and Belk...
