It is a tourism add showing that the state has more to offer then cars and ruin porn, although they could have showed the .org a little bit longer should somebody choose to follow up.I thought it was nice.

I never looked at it as lack of color because all over the web it is made clear that Detroit is 100% one color ,I guess this kinda dispels that concept.

On a totally unrelated path Hardcore Pawn seems to have switched to showing a lot of positive shots in the opening and mid shots nice change from when they started, you guys need to be careful because the word is starting to get out how much beauty is in the state and cities and what they have to offer. I guess the downside would be that now you may have all of those nasty outsiders visiting.

Touche! When I heard about it, I figured it was a lipdup, "singalong" was not a word mentioned. But yes, the video said singalong.

Default Michigan Statewide Singalong..there was no "Detroit" only places in it.

Have you ever tried to organize a group gathering in the city?!

I noticed that, too. I thought, well, everyone knows where Comerica Park [[etc.) is, but not everyone knows where the other places are... I suppose.

I noticed as well.....a lack of Detroit and its majority population. [[Here comes the race card accusations, but its human nature to look for self-representation)...I think it would have been nice to have a shot in front of Hitsville USA, or in the main lobby of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History just to be fair and balanced, but I know we weren't apart of the target demographic so I digress. Still a nice video.

Someone has to complain about everything. Detroit got more air than any other city... but I guess thats not enough for some.

Lets see... sailboat, lions, DIA, Comerica, Fox, JLA, Jim Maddus, Greenfield Village, the Zoo.... what else do you want? I don't recall the sleeping bear in there, and that is one of the State's Jewels. I don't want to hear complaints about the Zoo not being Detroit. The City still owns the land.

Now, now, everyone knows that black people really don't like to sing.

At least not on command from someone with fairer pigmentation than theirs...like I said on the other thread, the cityfolk I know are way too smart to shill for a jive-ass turkey like Snydley.

Yeah, I'm resurrecting a few terms from the seventies...going all French-Connection on y'all muthas.

But it does feel as if we've jumped back a few decades with interracial relations lately, maybe a generation or two. Not pretty.

    Well, that was weird.

Cool that a number of Detroit locales got showcased, but would it have killed them to use the word Detroit? No other city got their name omitted in favor of the location.

What the hell is with the St. Clair Shores one? That would have been the ideal shot to just say "Detroit." They were in fucking Detroit waters.

Whatever. This city doesn't exist or it's "third world", except for those select places a certain demographic enjoys. Just move the damn stadiums and the DIA to Rochester and get it over with already. Then you won't have to worry about the place that has no name anymore.

Is this really a discussion? Jesus. People on this forum are ridiculous. It always has to be about Detroit and blacks not getting a fair shake. We are all Michiganders, after all. White, black, purple, yellow...why do we always have bring up race. And you wonder why we're so segregated.

It did say Detroit for "Detroit Institute of Arts". Maybe they didn't list it every time because people know where the stadiums and the Fox are located.

If it wasn't so shameless it would almost be impressive how whitewashed that was.

And that St. Clair Shores clip was...something else.

Is this all such a surprise? Have you ever seen one state advertising to another to come look at our minority population? Unless that guy is blowing on a trumpet or playing a piano in a supper club, that is.

This is pretty radical by the typical parameters of state advertising. Feel lucky you didn't just get cherries, apple blossoms and freakin' fly fishing.

Wasn't this thrown together in a very short amount of time? Do you think they were screening for diversity candidates during the audition process, or something?

Surprised it wasn't listed as the "St. Clair Shores Institute of Arts"

Let the name of Detroit be stricken fom every book and tablet, stricken from all pylons and obelisks, stricken from every monument of Michigan. Let the name of Detroit be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of men for all time.

The tension between two trends has never been more amusing.

The suburban and outstate forces, as well as our most timid marketing departments, flee from the name of Detroit, changing park names, city names and trying to rebrand the area as Southeastern Michigan [[don't exactly roll off the tongue, do it?). The Sunday paper drops "Detroit" from the masthead. Suburban communities engage in a fiction that they don't need a central city. It's comical.

Meanwhile, the international brand of Detroit is becoming more famous, more respected and more iconic.

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...
