Belle Isle lease proposal short on specifics on attraction improvement

...lets remember this is the same State that has had control of DPS for the last 13 out of 15 years. Hows that working out. everything the State has taken over got worse. So who's to say Belle Isle wont???

DPS:Belle Isle::Apples:Oranges. Hell, it's almost like comparing a turnip to Mussolini.

There is a massive, massive confluence of factors that govern whether or not a large public school system succeeds or fails. A park is a park. If it's well-maintained, has a solid stream of visitors, and adds to the livelihood of the residents attending, it wins. Doing this is NOT a difficult task -- the Council is somehow brainwashing us into believing it is.

I was out there yesterday and it looks like things are happening, but I can't say for sure who initiated it. The parking lot in front of the Casino is being repaved, and there was a huge end loader and concrete in front of the South fishing pier. [[by the Coast Guard station). The island did not look bad @ all. It was clean and serene. The geese haven't been evicted either...

The park's condition is of no matter here. I also think the park's doing just fine.

I'm in favor of state control because they are stupid enough to be willing to take it on. That leaves Detroit with more time, money, and capital to tackle the real problems.

Parks don't matter. Its not about the park. I love parks.

Since I am on vacation next week, I might just take a ride over to Belle Isle. See how it looks. Belle Isle always looked better than any of the Detroit parks I played in 30 years ago, But I could see that it was looking kinda seedy 15 yrs ago. Maybe if the lease deal works out ,Then the city could lease out other of it's "Gem' parks. Maybe the grass might get mowed then, Graffitti removed, ETC
