In Eastern Market at Salt & Ceder Letterpress Studio, there is a VERY cool show that will consist of found/saved objects from Detroit that will tell its story and ours. They are taking donated objects from now until Wednesday right at Salt & Ceder. I encourage anybody with a Detroit collection of objects to consider donating something to this show. If it gets enough steam, the objective is to have the show travel around to other cities. You can get your object back if you want to - and then a photo with travel in its place.
I donated two very cool things that I was able to save from the landfills.
Here is the press release from Sara Dean:I thought you would like to know about an upcoming show. And we would love it if you would participate. As part of the DDF, we are putting on a show at Salt & Cedar in the Eastern Market. The show is a crowd-sourced collection of found objects from Detroit. Anyone can contribute an item to the collection. We are hoping that by asking residents, designers and artists to contribute items, it will accumulate into a collection as lively and exuberant as the city. We also hope that this is a way to show the city in the present tense - through things that exist in the city now.We are accepting objects starting Saturday at Salt & Cedar. Our opening will be this upcoming Thursday, the 20th, as part of the Eastern Market After Dark event that the DDF is hosting. For more information, visit our DDF event page: http://www.detroitdesignfestival.com...anecdoted-cityOur design collectives page: http://http://www.1ofx.comAnd Salt & Cedar's page: http://www.facebook.com/saltandcedarIf you would like more information, or images, feel free to email me.Because it's a crowd-sourced show, we are relying on people to contribute and spread the word. Thanks, and hope to see you at the show!Sara Dean
