Neilr sent me terrific information on 2126 Seminole, so here is an addition to O.C. Gottesleban's images.

Even though Indian Village is best known for very elegant individual dwellings over the years several homes were built on spec or in one area by one architect or one firm. Neilr's info on 2116 and 2126 Seminole gave the inspiration to add a few more groups.

First are the 4 homes designed by Robert Derrick for the Cook Farm Company on Burns [[they are across the street from the four homes designed by Herman & Simons for Cook). All four share similar square footage and lot size

Although not similar in size or design Smith, Hinchman & Grylls designed the next 3 homes next to each other on the 1400 block of Burns in Indian Village.

Even though his firm design some very lovely homes, Albert Kahn did not care much for residential design work. So its a little suprising when you see the triplets on Iroquois, three very rare spec homes designed by Kahn.

Moving to Berry Historic District two designs by Robert Derrick. 444 Lodge built in 1922 for Frederick S. Ford and 360 Lodge built in 1923 for John B. Ford Jr. are not exactly similar but do have a similar feel and are a couple of my favorites in the city. Also all the pics I am posting are from the considerable number of buildings we have that are standing and available to view any time. I know there are quite a few on here who spend time in the areas I have shown. For those who have not seen them please go and see your favorites!

Although the next two churches are not located in Detroit, they are considered to be significant works by Coquard.

Here is a challange...we talked about this house probably 8 years ago on DYes and it was built for a family, but I cannot recall the details. I do recall that the family name was also given to a road in the area. The house in question is at W. Grand Boulevard and Grand River. It is behind the Subway...the family name might be Tireman..

Patrick, is this the house you're referring to?

I don't have any factual architectural or historic knowledge of the house, just my personal experience. About 20 years ago, after having admired this house for a long time, I knocked on the door one morning and was invited in to see the 1st floor.

The house was owned by an elderly couple who operated a dance studio around the corner on Grand River. [[I don't remember their name, but it started with a "T" and was ±5 letters long.) They had lived there for many years. What I saw of the interior was as finely crafted as the exterior. I remember, particularly, the fireplace and the fine, old wood floors. The rooms that I saw were decorated in the what we might call today "shabby chic." While aged, it was well kept and comfortable. It was an altogether delightful visit.

The only incongrous architectural note that I noticed [[and remember) was the glassed-in front porch. Perhaps the biggest problem for this house is its isolated location. And the prohibitive expenses involved in restoration and maintenance.

Curious to know what was at the top of this house - also curious as to whether they were involved in 1720 Iroquois. Fantastic side porch on 1111 meets beautiful entry on 1720...
